Job DescriptionStarting Point Advisor position exists to increase TRIO Starting Point-Student Support Services participants, who are either first-generation, low-income or students with disabilities, retention, graduation, and transfer rates through comprehensive advising services, and assist in coordination and implementation of participant mentoring and cultural/social activities.Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Develop Individualized Success Plans and provide advising services to TRIO Starting Point participants.
- Provide guidance in graduation and transfer to TRIO Starting Point participants. Assist in developing and coordinating mentoring and cultural/social activities for TRIO Starting Point participants.
- Monitor, track, and report on student progress and performance, and mentor program and cultural/social activities participation.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in the social sciences, education or related field
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Experience with diverse populations
- Demonstrated self-starter with strong organizational and leadership skills
- Proficient and efficiency with computer technology including Microsoft Office, e-mail, on-line databases, and internet
- Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.
Other RequirementsCurrent and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)Mondays through Fridays 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Pay Range MnSCU Academic Professional 1: $23.63 - $34.18 hourly / $ 49,339 - $71,368 annually.
