Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Statewide Travel Coordinator. Under direction, this position will organize, plan, control, and evaluate statewide travel processes for the Department. The position will coordinate and implements statewide policies and procedures relative to travel and serve as liaison to the Governor's Travel Control Board, Office of the Comptroller, and Governor's Office of Management and Budget regarding changes to the travel policy and travel-related issues. The position will receive and review out-of-state travel requests and submit requests to the e-Travel system for approval or denial and will enforce the late travel submission policy by identifying travel vouchers submitted more than 60 days after the last date of travel. Essential Functions

* Serves as Statewide Travel Coordinator

* Receives and reviews out-of-state travel requests and submits requests to GOMB's e-Travel system for approval or denial, advising staff of results

* Maintains original copies of all forms submitted to the IOC, verifying signatures and maintaining signature exemplars of heads of unit and other staff who have signature authority

* Receives voucher batch files generated by the SAP software system on a daily basis

* Develops reports for management regarding the effectiveness of agency travel policy and the reimbursement process

* Serves as Electronic Funds Transfer liaison with IOC for staff requesting either payroll or commercial vouchers to be paid via electronic funds transfer

* Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

* Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four years of college, preferably with courses in business or public administration

* Requires one year of progressively responsible administrative experience in a public or business organization

Specialized Skills

* Of the previously noted year of experience, requires that the experience include independently developing database application queries and making presentations using spreadsheet and word processing applications

Preferred Qualifications

* 2 years of professional experience developing database application queries and making presentations using spreadsheet and work processing applications

* 2 years of experience in an office setting utilizing strong computer skills, particularly in Excel, and a working knowledge of other Microsoft Office products (Outlook and Word)

* 2 years of professional experience monitoring staff in a statewide program in a public or private organization

* 2 years of professional experience serving in a liaison capacity with internal or external units within a public or private organization
