Description

Provide a service of installation, repair, and maintenance of all steam fitting requirements throughout the district facilities.

THIS POSITION IS FOR OUR PREVENTATIVE MAINTENANCE CREW

* SHIFT TIMES: 1 PM - 11:30 PM, Tuesday - Friday

* DAYS PER YEAR: 260 days, 12 months

Responsibilities

* Use all hand and power tools necessary to cut, thread, weld, solder, or otherwise connect and install gas, air, and heat piping.

* Install valves, controls, traps, and components required in the installation or repair of gas, air, and heat piping.

* Install pumps, heat exchangers, hot water heating systems, and boiler piping.

* Maintain and repair piping, tanks, and pressure vessels for fuels (steam, water, air, gas) and draining systems.

* Install, service, repair, and adjust burners, pumps, ejectors, valves, stills, heat exchangers, and coils.

* Service, adjust, calibrate, maintain, and operate equipment needed as related to the indoor air quality equipment.

* Read and interpret plans, blueprints, and sketches.

* Construct, lay out, or plan piping assemblies.

* Construct various types of pipe joints for high or low pressure systems including threading, bracing, soldering, and welding.

* Perform all work in compliance with local, state, and federal standards, regulations, and codes.

* Maintain, operate, and repair all refrigeration and air conditioning systems.

* Maintain and repair pneumatic, electric, and electronic control systems.

* Maintain and repair boilers and burners.

* Observe safety rules and regulations.

* Perform related duties as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications

* Demonstrated ability and aptitude to perform the responsibilities listed.

* Journeyman having completed recognized apprenticeship.

* Demonstrated safety record.

* Demonstrated knowledge of the various regulations and mechanical codes.

* Demonstrated knowledge and training with Energy Management Systems.

* Demonstrated knowledge and ability to operate and service or maintain steam and hot water boilers and their burner controls.

* Demonstrated knowledge and ability to read and follow plans and blueprints.

* Ability to carry out directions with minimum supervision.

* Demonstrated ability to relate and work effectively with a diverse group of co-workers and staff in a confidential manner.

* Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication.

* Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.

* Valid industrial gas license (must be able to obtain an industrial gas license within six months of employment).

* Asbestos workers certification preferred.

* Hold valid low pressure boiler operator's license.

* Relates positively to youth and adults of varying socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds.

* Stipends, Leave Accruals and Holidays - Stipends, leaves and paid holidays are in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement (Collective Bargaining Agreements) as negotiated.
