Responsibilities Proficient in all sterile processing department job respons1bil1ties. Able to articulate the IAHCSMM Standards and Guidelines. Performs shift-change report in order to communicate department status with oncoming shift staff members. Responsible for employee work schedules, training, and annual competencies Maintains adequate supply levels to meet departmental needs. Provides direct and effective supervision to ensure timely delivery of sterile instruments. Responsible for the safe and efficient practices for decontamination, instrument assembly, and sterilization of all reprocessed instruments and equipment. Performs first review of staff evaluations and provides timely feedback to manager. Directly reports any recalls/failures/wet packs/wet loads to manager in a timely manner. Trend and track deficiencies for educational opportunities. Twenty-four hour accountability for alt personnel activities occurring in the Sterile Processing Department. Other duties as assigned. Utilizes proper body mechanics when moving equipment supplies weighing up to 50 lbs and autoclave carts weighing up to 200 lbs. ability to stand for long periods of time. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent, five years directly related experience and two certifications from IAHCSMM. An extensive in-house progressively difficult training/competency module may serve as an alternative to national certification.
