Details Client NameCentura Mercy Hospital Job TypeTravel OfferingAllied ProfessionSterile Processing SpecialtySterile Processing Tech Job ID29986484 Job TitleSTERILE PROCESSING TECH Weekly Pay$1469.5 Shift Details ShiftMid - 8x5 - 02PM Scheduled Hours40 Job Order Details Start Date12/16/2024 End Date03/15/2025 Duration13 Week(s) Job Description Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician Job Specialty: Sterile Processing Job Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Mid - 5x8 - 2pm - 10pm, 40 Hours per week Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours Experience: 6 months of experience preferred License: N/A Certifications: CRCST / CSPDT Required Must-Have: Computer skills, required Job Description: - Promote improved quality and patient safety in the operating room by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department.- Perform routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment, and sterile supplies.- Responsible for general operation and monitoring of sterilization equipment.- Maintain records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission, or relevant entity and OSHA standards.- Demonstrate awareness and understanding of the critical nature of patient care in the operating room.- Facilitate the department's preparation of staff for survey/regulatory assessments.- Sterilize supplies and instruments using prescribed methods (e.g., steam, gas plasma - Sterrad).- Operate washer/decontaminator according to department policy and procedure.- Understand the basic principles of all sterilization equipment used in the department.- Demonstrate knowledge of how items should be packaged for successful sterilization and follow manufacturer's recommendations (IFUs).- Ensure cleanliness of decontamination, sterilization, and equipment areas.- Validate proper functioning of all equipment using established mechanical and biological monitors.- Ensure sterilized supplies are correctly labeled and stored to maintain sterility, in compliance with regulatory guidelines.- Uphold standards for quality, infection prevention, regulatory compliance, and Joint Commission requirements.- Demonstrate technical skills needed to maintain High-Level Disinfection (HLD) processes.- Utilize features of computerized tray/instrument tracking systems, if applicable.- Apply knowledge of dress code related to Standard Precautions and consistently wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).- Report any life safety issues, environmental concerns, or process deviations to immediate supervisor.- Develop awareness and understanding of what is at stake regarding patients in the OR.- Maintain a customer-friendly rapport with peers and internal/external customers.- Provide on-call coverage outside of standard scheduled hours per department and/or facility policy.- Record work activity as prescribed by department policy.- Assist in transporting sterilized instrumentation to operating rooms as needed.- Verify that required instrumentation has been sterilized and is available for next-day, call, or weekend cases.- Assist in removing soiled case carts or non-sterile instrumentation from the operating room department.- Respond to problem calls from Surgery during regular business hours. Schedule Notes: Evening shifts from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM Float Requirements: - Floating may be required to any location within sixty (60) miles of the original assignment location or identified float zone.- Float assignments may include duties outside of original job requirements in accordance with policy.
