JOB SUMMARY
  • Promotes the image and the message of the parish internally (staff, ministry volunteers and parishioners at large) and externally (the Pastoral Center, other Parishes, Christian Communities, Community institutions, and the community at large.
  • Ensures a good relationship with Parish internal and external constituencies.
  • Responsible for insuring and developing a swift and clear institutional communication.
  • Since the Parish mission and vision is reflected in the environment of the facilities, this position oversees that aspect of the non-verbal message of the Parish, such as distribution of furniture, pictures, care for gardens and most especially the Sanctuary.
  • Directs campaigns that promotes the growth of the Parish by means of parishioner registrations and a growing engagement of the public with the Parish social media tools.
  • Establishes lines of communication with internal and external constituencies
  • Oversees and maintains social media and other forms of mass communication, such as church bulletin, parish website, and Church and Community newspaper in order to promote the image and message of the Parish.
  • Oversees the Capital Development and Fundraising of the Parish
  • Promotes and coordinates non-liturgical Parish life events, such as festivals, concerts, auctions, etc.
  • Maintains a high level of confidentiality to protect the interests of the Catholic Church, and its Parishioners'.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Parish Growth: Seeks new initiatives and communication programs to promote a sustained growth in Parish registrations and social media engagement. This is the number one priority for this job and the sole objective of all the other priorities and responsibilities.
  • Parish Development: As a second priority, this position is to ensure that the Parish promotes an enthusiastic and engaging Capital Campaign for specific projects of the Parish.
  • Institutional communication: The position develops an open communication plan for the Parish and ensures that it is brought into effect thus creating an inviting, welcoming and apostolically professional environment for its staff members and the ministry volunteers.
  • Positioning: By use of mass, social media, and other forms of communication, creates and maintains a presence within the local community. The individual will position the Parish in the community and virtual world as a point of reference for evangelization and Catechesis.
  • Networking: Establish Key relationships in the community within and outside the Parish.
  • Collaboration: Assists all the Parish constituencies to develop and align all the particular messages of different Parish organizations and departments to reflect the one message of the Parish.
  • Evaluation: Continually create, evaluate, and brainstorm with others to offer suggestions to the Pastor and the Parish, in order to improve communications and positioning. Provides ongoing reports on progress and success of ministry engagement in programs and events as reflected in personal evaluations and other feedback.
  • Spiritual & Professional Development: Regularly engage in personal growth, professional development, theological study, prayer, charity and justice work, and spiritual formation.
  • OVASE/VIRTUS - Responsible for ensuring parish compliance with OVASE/VIRTUS requirements and recertifications at all times.
  • Other assignments and projects consistent with the responsibility level and general duties as required by the Pastor.
  • Budgeting: The individual in this position will take time to review and assist the priest with budgeting topics.
Requirements
  • The Stewardship and Outreach Coordinator requires a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and/ or Communications. 4-6 years previous experience in Marketing, Ministry, Religious Education, Pastoral Studies or a combination there of.
  • Bilingual (English and Spanish) along with knowledge and understanding of the culture.
  • The Parish Marketing and Development Director must be a Roman Catholic in good standing with the church and be willing to learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Should be experienced with MS Office (Word Excel, PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat, along with 2-3 years successful experience operating and running various social media platforms and communication.
  • Should be optimistic and enthusiastic in their approach towards being an apostle of Jesus Christ, excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication, leadership and organizational skills and proficiency on social media.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours to include assisting with gatherings and events on evenings and weekends.
