Position: Strategic Buyer
Location: Greensboro, NC
Duration: 3+ month contract
Shift: Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm EST with some travel to supplier sites
Candidates with Buying experience in Braking Systems, Air Valves, or similar commodities are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Ability to read engineering drawings and TR with support from Engineering.
- Have a good knowledge of various Raw Material content
- Manage supplier sourcing activities from project phase to operations, ensuring that supplier selection is in line with expectations (QCDFTSR.)
- Able to manage and drive RFI, RFQs through the sourcing process.
- Develop sourcing plans and award suppliers for various projects with cross-functional time plans
- Analyze supplier proposals and bids with an emphasis on assembly line layout, elements of standard work processes and required labor content.
- Understanding of cost break downs and how each elements play into the pricing.
- Monitor supplier manufacturing plan, and identify and mitigate any risks
- Ensure that the supplier and its labor force is prepared for production
- Good Negotiation and Contracting to secure risks.
- Manage all project-related supplier relations (meetings, documents, feedback)
- Contribute as a member or leader in cross-functional teams for the segment strategy development and product roadmap.
- Negotiate with suppliers and ensure that right cost is met while keeping cost remains flat through the project phase.
- Work with PMPs and Build Teams to ensure Prototype Parts, C Parts and P parts are available on time.
- Ensuring active contributions to the PPAP process.
Experience:
- 3+ years of strategic purchasing experience (supplier sourcing, negotiation, etc.) from the automotive or similar heavy manufacturing industry.
- Developed project management skills, positive attitude, strong business acumen, agile in way of working.
- Desire to work in a collaborative team towards a common purpose.
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business or related field is an advantage.
