Overall Purpose

The Strategic Risk Advisor-Transformation is a key risk advisor supporting the Risk Transformation occurring across the organization. This role is responsible for ensuring a strong risk culture and delivery of all risk management initiatives in the Transformation Roadmap. Partners closely with transformation stakeholders (including executives, 1st and 2nd line leadership, and function subject matter experts) to build an understanding of the destination state risk management expectations and changes required to achieve more mature and effective risk management.

Essential Functions

  • Partner across the organization to drive cultural awareness, knowledge, adoption, and accountability for risk management changes occurring through risk transformation.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for risk strategy, risk frameworks, risk practices and process and how to mature and enhance them across the organization through a transformation program.
  • Serve as a strategic thought leader partnering with leaders across 1st and 2nd line in accomplishing risk transformation objectives and outcomes. Actively engage in discussions concerning strategic business decisions to advise and guide on risk considerations.
  • Drive an end-to-end, holistic view of current state and the changes needed to mature to destination state via the Risk Transformation. Lead ideation, design, planning, build, and implementation planning as a risk thought leader. Enhance roadmaps and plans for maturing to destination state.
  • Act as a thought leader while participating in organizational change efforts, including communication plans, training, and stakeholder readiness. Cultivate a culture of innovation and adaptability within the organization. Address resistance to change and proactively mitigate challenges.
  • Provide counsel and coaching to the First Line and Second Line of Defense teams regarding transformation initiatives based on a broad understanding of the company's risk appetite and organizational construct.
  • Prepare materials for risk reporting and updates to senior management, risk committees, and external oversight bodies.
  • Ensure VP - Risk Strategy, Transformation, and Operations has a holistic understanding of the schedule and timelines for initiatives required for Risk Transformation.
  • Support the company's commitment to risk management and protecting the integrity and confidentiality of systems and data.
  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and/or experience typically obtained through completion of a bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum of (12) twelve or more years of risk management experience, preferably within financial services, or other complex, highly regulated environment, using the three lines of defense model.
  • Strong Risk Management subject matter knowledge across 1st and 2nd line.
  • Ability to develop and operationalize new solutions within the risk management process.
  • Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work effectively across the three lines of defense.
  • Effective influence management skills with experience challenging peers and leaders with contrasting views.
  • Persuasive communication, organization, and presentation skills, with experience working with executive level management.
  • Self-starter with ability and desire to work independently.
  • Ability to synthesize and analyze risk data.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory requirements related to financial services technology.
  • Background and drug screen.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of COSO's Internal Control – Integrated Framework, or similar.
  • Risk management, internal control, or Certified Regulatory Compliance (CRCM) certification(s).
  • Experience documenting business processes and functions.
  • Experience with regulatory reporting and regulatory interactions.
  • Physical Requirements

    Working conditions consist of a normal office environment. Work is primarily sedentary and requires extensive use of a computer and involves sitting for periods of approximately four hours. Work may require occasional standing, walking, kneeling and reaching. Must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently. Requires visual acuity and dexterity to view, prepare, and manipulate documents and office equipment including personal computers.
