Structural Engineer - Tesla Motors : Job Details

Tesla is seeking a Structural Engineer for the Infrastructure Engineering team. This role will include Structural Engineering for greenfield and existing facilities. This role interfaces with a cross discipline engineering team in a fast-paced environment. As a Structural Engineer, you are responsible for seeing designs from engineering thru delivery and support of construction. Responsibilities

• Prepares and/or assists in preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, proposals, schedules for projects for varying complexity
• Conduct structural analysis and design of concrete and steel structures, along with the creation of justifying structural calculations
• Prepares and/or assists in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements
• Make technical assumptions, think independently to complete assigned work, and draw conclusions based on engineering judgement
• Oversees collection, assimilation, and management of data for engineering work from multiple disciplines/firms
• Review and approve Engineering firm's structural models, calculations reports, drawings
• Ensure steel structures weight is optimized

Requirements

• P.E license (Civil Structural) in the State of Texas
• 8-15 years of experience designing steel and concrete structures used in industrial plant like pipe rack, skids, process equipment supports, cable tray/piping supports, structural modules for lifting and transportation
• Knowledge of American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) steel manual, American Concrete Institute (ACI) code 318, American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) 7, and International Building Code (IBC)
• Experience with AutoCAD, Naviswork, Revit, Tekla and/or Advanced steel or similar design software
• Understanding of other disciplines such as: mechanical, electrical, piping, geotechnical, and surveying
• Experience with project management of major construction projects including estimating, cost control, schedule, and contractor management
• Experience with STAAD Pro, RISA-3D, Etabs , RAM connections or similar analysis software
