Job DescriptionAviation Structures TechnicianLocation: Merritt Island, FLSalary: $46.20/hrIndustry: Aerospace/ManufacturingEmployment Type: 6 month assignment w/ potential for extension or conversionShift: Monday through Friday, 2pm-10:30pm. OT expected.Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; A&P license is a plus
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in aerospace manufacturing & aerospace structures (Sheetmetal)
  • Experience in Drilling Aluminum, Composite & Titanium structures
  • Experience in at least one of the following is required: Heavy Primary Structures drilling experience and/or Secondary Structures drilling experience.
  • Interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, understands written work instructions and test procedures.
  • Work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills, fields, and backgrounds
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately, in writing and in person.
  • Basic digital literacy such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Climb ladders/stairs and work in small, restricted areas.
  • Physical Requirements: Work at Heights on work stands and in lifts. Perform repetitive work, including lifting of items up to 35lbs. Ability to lift heavy items up to 50lbs.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Desired:
  • Industry certification, trade school training and/or degree in related field or (Airframe License).
  • Proven success as a hands-on technical leader
  • Work optimally with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities

  • Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.
  • Experience in handling large aerospace structures.
  • Experience in assembling large tight tolerance structures.
  • Experience in new product introduction.
  • Experience in a team-based Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification
  • Military experience
Responsibilities:
  • Expertly Manufacture, assemble, and test the rocket s First Stage & Second Stage structure.
  • Setup new production work areas, including tooling and equipment.
  • Assist with transition from development to production, including first articles.
  • Perform second party verifications and hardware inspections to engineering models, drawings, specifications, and written procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and correct malfunctions by modification, rework, repair, and/or maintenance.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for recurrence control.
  • Operate various material handling equipment including forklifts, overhead cranes, aerial lifts, flight vehicle and subassembly transportation equipment, truck-trailer combinations and other ground support equipment as required.
  • Setup and operate a wide range of precision calibrated tools including, but not limited to, torque wrenches, micrometers, calipers, laser tracker, height gauges and optical measuring instruments.
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement projects for area safety and efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance functions such as daily clean-up of work areas to support 5S, FOD, and ESD
  • Ability to work off-shift, extended overtime, and weekends if/when vital.
