Student Accounts Counselor - Mercy College : Job Details

Job Posting Summary

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Student Accounts, the Counselor will ensure the timely processing of student accounts to support the Student Financial Services Division in a professional, efficient and compliant manner. The Counselor will also serve a primary support member to the Financial Aid Systems Management Operations team to Student Financial Services campus staff members, ensuring student centered service in meeting the needs of traditional, non-traditional, adult and minority student populations.

Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred. Minimum of two to three years of higher education related experience required

* A driver's license and the ability to travel between campuses is required, along with national travel

* Must have experience in Banner, and be proficient with the internet, Microsoft Office Suite, and multiple Department of Education software products

* Broad knowledge of financial aid specific and related regulations (federal and state) required

* Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, written and oral communication, problem-solving, organizational, and presentation skills

* Demonstrated evidence of detail-orientation, customer service orientation, ability to work independently, ability to manage great levels of responsibility required

* Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus

* Ability to work long hours, including weekends and evenings as required

* Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check. Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check

The Mercy University Retirement Plan is comprised of two components:

Deferred Compensation Plan

All eligible employees may contribute to the Deferred Compensation Plan on a pre-tax basis upon joining the University.

Defined Contribution Plan

Eligible employees are enrolled in the Defined Contribution Plan after two (2) years of full-time employment at Mercy University and receive a semi-monthly contribution from the College, based on age and salary. If an employee is under age 36, they will receive a contribution of 3.3% of their annual salary each pay period. If an employee is age 36 or older, they will receive a contribution of 9% of their annual salary each pay period.

If employed full-time for two (2) or more consecutive years by another institution(s) of higher education (college or university), without an intervening break in service within the last twelve (12) months prior to employment before joining Mercy, please submit a waiting period waiver form to Office of Human Resources. The Defined Contribution will begin as of the first day of the month following receipt of the completed waiver form.
