Job Title Student Assistant-Athletic Equipment/Facility, Football General Description
This is a student position responsible for assisting in the operations and activities of a collegiate athletic department specific to equipment and facility functions.
Job Duties
1. Provides assistance to the department by assisting staff in routine duties typical to an equipment facility working with intercollegiate athletics.
2. Provides assistance in daily practice preparation and clean up.
3. Assists in laundry duties.
4. Assists in the daily grounds maintenance to include mowing of football and track practice fields.
5. Assists in game day duties to successfully conduct collegiate football games.
6. May travel with football program to off-campus competitions.
7. Assists in equipment issue and maintenance for a collegiate football program.
8. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Ability to accurately prepare and maintain records and files of equipment inventory.
2. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
3. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
4. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as schedule dictates.
5. Physical condition adequate to permit full performance of duties.
Required Qualifications
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with the operations of athletic teams is preferred.
Physical Demands
1. Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
2. Ability to perform work in varying environmental conditions including summer heat, winter cold, wind, rain, and humidity.
Special Conditions for Eligibility
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
