Position Information
Job Title Student Assistant-Athletic Game Operations
General Description
This is a student position responsible for assisting in the operations and activities of athletic department game day operations and event management.
Job Duties
1. Provides assistance to the department by assisting game day staff in preparing for and implementing collegiate athletic events.
2. Provides assistance in all areas of hosting collegiate events, including but not limited to setting up facilities and equipment, running game equipment during event, meeting public address needs, cleaning up after event, and liaising with game officials.
3. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
1. Knowledge of appropriate customer service.
2. Ability to learn tasks specific to hosting of sporting events.
3. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
4. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
5. Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays as events dictate.
6. Physical condition adequate to permit full performance of duties.
Required Qualifications
The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed for event set-up/tear down.
Special Conditions for Eligibility
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
