Job Description and Duties

Position exists in Volunteer Services at Porterville Developmental Center.

Under close supervision and in a learner capacity, to assist in the performance of the administrative or technical duties required by the departmental assignment; and to do other related work.

Individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, a formally incarcerated youth, or a victim of human trafficking as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Working Conditions

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in this duty statement.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Ongoing interaction with clients and facility personnel. Potential exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and other conditions common in a clinical nursing environment.

Department Information

The California Department of Developmental Services (DDS) is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to individuals with developmental disabilities.

These disabilities include intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions. Services are provided through state-operated developmental centers and community facilities, and contracts with 21 nonprofit regional centers. The regional centers serve as a local resource to help find and access the services and supports available to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
