A successful candidate will play an active role in FMU's existing academic and operational success. In collaboration with staff and administration to ensure students and guests are provided with opportunities and services to help them succeed. Student Assistants will provides support to the program director and PIs in the collection of assessment data, review, and analysis.
Essential Duties:
Responsibilities will include: administrative tasks included, but not limited to answering the phones and greeting visitors to our office:
* Use a computer to type letters, develop forms and develop publications
* Enter data into the computer related to project, Mailing and Inventory Logs
* Perform varied clerical duties such as filing, copying, running errands, answering the telephone and data entry and computing
* Prepare signs, posters, and mailings and assist with other tasks and projects as assigned
* Assist the Project Director with the prompt processing and distribution of correspondence
* Be familiar with all aspects of the project office operations
* Be on time for work and work hours as scheduled
* Make effective use of work time
* Complete timesheets promptly, accurately, and submit them by the deadlines specified
* Complete all tasks assigned in an accurate, prompt, and thorough manner
* Take initiative in suggesting and assisting with projects that might contribute to improving program operations and procedures
* Keep all matters confidential
* Conduct ongoing self-evaluation and keep work up to acceptable standards
* Office support such as mailings, front desk coverage, filing
* Assist as necessary with department events

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Ability to handle information of sensitive and confidential nature in the utmost professional manner. Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, initiative, resourcefulness, and personal accountability.
* Effective analytical and decision-making skills. Excellent communication (oral and written), organizational, and time management skills. Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse constituents.
* Attention to detail and adaptability to a changing environment is extremely important as well as dependability.
* Moderate physical activity. Requires handling objects of average-weight up to fifty (50) pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Qualifications:
* Part-Time FMU student with a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher. High School diploma or GED with prior customer service or administrative experience. must be currently enrolled with a minimum of six (6) credits as an Undergraduate student or three (3) credits as a Graduate student during the Fall and Spring semesters.
* Ability to make entry-level decisions and a willingness to ask questions. Student Assistants should also demonstrate responsibility, initiative, timeliness, and the ability to work independently.
* Ability to take direction and work independently as needed.
* Technical Skills: Knowledge of technology/office equipment and willingness to learn new information systems and software; proficiency in the use of computer applications and MS Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
* Proficiency in MS Office Suite, as well as knowledge and understanding of the organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.
* Flexibility to work outside of normal business hours.
