About the Opportunity
Kalamazoo Valley Community College is seeking a full-time Student Financial Services Representative. The individual in this position will seek to create a collaborative partnership between students and financial aid staff. The aim is to ensure that students feel welcomed to ask their financial aid questions and share their plans/concerns authentically, in an environment designed to be responsive and supportive. This position will support several aspects of the college's strategic plan, including providing holistic student support and the processing of VA Benefits.
Characteristic Responsibilities and Duties
* Answer financial aid phone calls and emails, see students at the counter, and process paperwork.
* Assist financial aid applicants with the financial aid process and veterans with veteran benefit applications.
* Notify student financial aid applicants of information needed to complete financial aid files.
* Assist aid recipients with program requirements and process VA benefit paperwork/applications, as needed.
* Track, update, and maintain student financial aid and VA benefit files within the financial aid office.
* Complete special and ongoing projects/tasks/responsibilities (such as work-study placement and monitoring, assist with America Reads position development, review student holds, complete housing/enrollment verification paperwork, and assist with Pell reconciliation).
* Enter data into assigned computer systems (Banner, Salesforce, VA OneSource, NSLDS, etc).
* Type standard forms, letters, and other mailings.
* Taking payments for student accounts, helping students set up payment plans, and help students set up refund options.
Minimum Qualifications:
Appropriate education, training, experience and talents are required. An example of this would be an Associate degree in an appropriate field and the equivalent of two years of general office work.
