Job Description: Primary Responsibility The Student Government Association (SGA) Advisor is responsible for taking regular attendance at all open and closed SGA meetings, help facilitate planning and give full approval for all SGA events, provide assistance and advice without dominating decision-making. The SGA Advisor mediates conflicts between members and encourages full participation of members. This position advises SGA as to CMC policy and channels of communication. The position must be available to members when problems arise. The SGA Advisor will assist SGA in making approved purchases with use of p-card or through campus designated buyer. This position will also be responsible for all recordkeeping of all fundraising and expenditure. The position is expected to work 4 hours per week for each of the 15 weeks in the semester: 60 hours per semester. An exempt employee will be paid on a supplemental contract. Non-exempt employee will coordinate with their supervisor. Pre-requisites for Position (Qualifications Standards) Education and experience sufficient for the rigors of the position: incumbent must be full-time CMC Steamboat employee. Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to working in a culturally competent environment and the ability to effectively work with students, employees, and community members having diverse backgrounds. Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred. Minimum Qualifications: Essential Duties Coordinate all legislature approved payments/expenditures from the student activity fee funds in cooperation with the campus Accounts Manager Present to the legislature a monthly financial statement Assist in the development of an annual Student Government budget Advise in matters of constitution or bylaws interpretation Coordinate graduation recognition of SGA members Keep the updated record of all documents created or used by the SGA Be available to answer questions from club advisors Coordinate the SGA involvement with college and campus administrative decision making Coordinate SGA member placement on all appropriate CMC Boards and Committees Facilitate the disbursement or retraction of SGA funds to clubs and organizations with the campus Accounting Office Ensure acquisition of all Student Travel Agreement forms before club travel funds are disbursed for club trips Make available all updated club funding paperwork to club advisors each semester Maintain records of all Club Funding Requests Oversee the balance and distribution of funds from the SGA Emergency Student Loan Program Assist in the oversight of any Student Service funded by the SGA Sit on all hiring committees which work to fill a Student Service funded by the SGA Coordinate the logistics and purchasing needs of Student Services funded by the SGA. Other duties as assigned. Supervision Received Position reports to the Student Government Association (SGA). Supervisory Responsibility Position has no supervisory responsibility. Special Conditions of Employment Successful completion of a background check including motor vehicles records report will be required. Incumbents in this position will adhere to all safety and compliance policies of Colorado Mountain College while performing all duties assigned. Working Conditions This position requires constant sitting, occasional walking, standing and driving; occasional handling objects, pushing/pulling; frequent reaching with hands/arms, and use of finger movements; occasional lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects up to 25 lbs.; ordinary talking, hearing and full vision capabilities; and the ability to read/comprehend. Write, communicate orally, reason and analyze constantly; and perform calculations occasionally. Work is performed using a computer and standard office equipment daily and driving a vehicle occasionally.
