The Virtual Preparatory Academy of West Virginia is a K-12 tuition-free online public school in the state of West Virginia. At VPA West Virginia, we empower students to be their best by enabling them to learn in ways that are right for them - using innovative technology at home, at their proper level, and at their own pace.The Virtual Student Services Manager works with the members of the administrative team to implement the school's engagement programming. The Student Services Manager provides proactive leadership to engage all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to support the students' academic achievement, personal and social development and understands and responds to the challenges of a diverse student population. The Student Services Manager leads engagement interventions, family and student support and onboarding efforts.Please note - while this is an online school position and all instruction occurs virtually, travel and face-to-face attendance will be required several times per year to support in-person state testing and student events.About the OpportunityOversees creation, implementation, and tracking systems of student onboarding and orientation plansCreates and implements identification and intervention plans for non-engaged studentsCreates and delivers professional development for staff on student onboarding, social emotional well-being, and engagementDevelops methods to use of data to determine and respond to student needsMay carry a reduced caseload of students needing intervention plans and/or wrap around supportsServe as the primary point of contact for school administration in developing plans to address barriers to full achievement of attendance, academic, and behavioral goalsIn collaboration with the administrative team creates and implements school wide positive behavior programmingIn collaboration with the school administration team and national enrollment team, creates and implements re-registration plans and effortsFacilitates identification of student barriers to learning and connection to appropriate services and resourcesWorks collaboratively with Accel national team members on program creation, implementation, and measurement of program outcomesCollaborates closely with school administration to craft student supports and programs that will promote desired student academic outcomesDesigns and implements proactive community outreach and communication effortsCreates forms and processes to support implementation of Student Code of ConductDocuments disciplinary actions per established process and maintains all disciplinary data as required for state reporting purposesSupports principal in responding to disciplinary situations in collaboration with appropriate stakeholders (administrators, school staff, students, families)Supervises the Student Success Coaches and other team membersOther duties as assignedAbout YouMaster's Degree in Education or Social Services preferred5+ years of experience in the K-12 educational settingProficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite ProductsAbility to handle confidential information responsibly and exhibit sound judgment while maintaining that confidentialityDemonstrates a reliable, dependable, and trustworthy work ethicAbility to manage difficult or emotional client situationsAbility to make sound judgments after all available information has been gathered or communicatedDemonstrates a mature attitude and insight into matters affecting department, self and / or company welfareDemonstrated leadership and management abilityExcellent written and oral communication skillsAbility to work well under pressure, effectively prioritizing and executing tasks to meet deadlines consistentlyCustomer service orientedAbility to learn new technologies and acquire new skills through independent study, professional training, and from more senior team membersPrior administrative assistance experience preferredPrior experience working in a school setting preferredAbility to work independently and contribute to a teamUnderstanding and ability to manage confidential informationAbility to lift 25 lbs.Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checksAbout Us We believe that every child should be able to be anything they want in life, regardless of their birthplace and circumstances.
