Position Type: Adult Education/CoordinatorDate Posted: 11/13/2024Location: Bay-Arenac ISD Career CenterClosing Date: Until FilledBay-Arenac ISD Position DescriptionJOB TITLE: Student Success Coordinator DEPARTMENT: Adult Education REPORTS TO: Supervisor, Adult and Continuing Education PREPARED BY: Kim Byington DATE: 11/12/2024 FTE: 1.0 APPROVED BY: Becky Smith DATE: 11/12/2024 SUMMARY The Student Success Coordinator (SSC) assists students in establishing an informed educational plan to earn a high school diploma, high school equivalency, or improvement of basic math and reading skills. The SSC helps participants develop a Career Pathway Plan while identifying barriers and closely monitoring students' academic progress on a daily basis. These plans connect participants with the resources to overcome identified barriers. The SSC monitors student academic progress by working closely with students and staff and offers resources and interventions that will enhance success. The SSC also supports ongoing student and program assessment and partners with outside agencies for support. This position requires 1-2 evenings per week until 8:30 pm. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Identifies participant barriers, provides resources and support, and develops an informed Educational and Career Pathway Plan, based on Adult Learning Plan (ALP).
  • Coordinates student intervention strategies with staff.
  • Tracks and enters participant attendance on a weekly basis.
  • Coordinates tutoring efforts for students with math tutor and GED Math Only Club sessions.
  • Meets with students outside of school setting, if needed.
  • Retrieves all google Interest Forms and refers to appropriate program.
  • Manages new enrollment orientations and one-on-one enrollments.
  • Proctors HSE & other assessments, as needed.
  • Manages applications for GED vouchers and coordinates with staff and students.
  • Assists in ensuring compliance with MDE and WDA requirements for High School Completion and GED participants including Adult Learning Plans, CASAS Assessments, MAERS Data, and Follow Up information.
  • Performs credit audits on transcripts - entering and exiting.
  • Enters transfer credits and earned credits into Skyward for all HSC participants.
  • Assists in providing guidance and direction to students regarding coursework, test out options, program choice, and eligibility.
  • Coordinates post-secondary opportunities and career planning.
  • Plans and organizes a college and FAFSA night event.
  • Assists in graduation ceremony by obtaining Delta Scholarship referrals, organizing and tracking eligible graduates, and participating in the ceremony.
  • Creates and publishes monthly newsletter for program.
  • Assists supervisor and instructors with student discipline issues and documents any incident reports, suspensions, or other disciplinary action.
  • May be primary contact in the absence of the Supervisor.
  • Be present in buildings with regular and continued attendance and punctuality.
  • Follow all Board Policies, Staff Handbook and Administrative Guidelines.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Social Work or other human services related field. Minimum three years' experience in a related field. Experience working with non-traditional adult student populations, preferred. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISRATIONS Valid driver's license required. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. REASONING ABILITY Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
