The Student Support Specialist provides instructional support and training to school personnel regarding interventions, structured teaching, and communication systems for targeted students in grades K-12. The Student Support Specialist designs interventions to increase responsible behavior, reduce negative behavior, and address students' goals as outlined in their Individual Education Programs (IEPs). This is a 9-month position that generally follows the Transitional Learning Center calendar. The Student Support Specialist communicates with parents, district employees, and school personnel to build and implement a strong support system for students. The Student Support Specialist documents, maintains, analyzes, and discusses data with IEP teams to determine the impact of interventions. The Student Support Specialist provides direct intervention, models intervention with others, assists in monitoring implementation fidelity, trains staff, and provides consultation to ensure consistent implementation of interventions, accommodations, modifications, and behavior intervention plans.
