KVC employees are also expected to maintain knowledge of, and adhere to, all company policies and procedures.The Student Support Worker will: • Build a child welfare system that is safe, secure, and stable; family centered, and connected to the community. • Provide youth with support of general life skills and mentorship.• Must be at least 21 years of age. • Monitoring and Security: Night staff are responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment throughout the night. This includes regular rounds to check on residents to ensure all doors and windows are secure. • Must be prepared to respond to emergencies such as medical incidents, fires, or security breaches. This may include the administering of first aid, contacting emergency service. • Ability to stay awake and alert throughout the entire night shift. • Ability to perform physical activities including standing and walking. • Responsible for overnight safety checks for youth. • Responsible for cleaning of Resident Hall, completing laundry and any other necessary needs in maintaining cleanliness. • Must complete timesheets daily, including clocking in and out for lunch periods and breaks. • Respect all youth and treat them as individuals in accordance with their treatment plan. • Review youth case summaries and become familiar with individual needs.• Be a role model for the children and families in our care, remain professional, respectful, and calm.• Provide and lead youth group activities to build social skills, life skills as well as academic skills. • Create and engage recreational activities that are youth centered.• Provide youth with tutoring assistance. • Provide transportation for youth for off campus activities or access resources (may include home visits, and shopping).• Required to administer medication as needed per youth. • Complete required documentation as pertains to company policy. Must be proficient in using Microsoft office products. • Provide feedback on progress as needed. • Assist with structured group activities by providing youth choices and welcome poor choices as teachable moments and promote responsible behavior. • Provide age-appropriate supervision of youth while in Residence Hall and on campus. • Travel and transport young people (possibly to multiple counties in a service area) and work with youth in a variety of settings that may include home, school, and community. • Required evening/overnight/weekend work to ensure safety, security, of Residence Hall operations. • Provide supervised visitation as needed with supportive caregivers or biological families.• Have knowledge of de-escalation techniques per KVC(MANDT) and receive training in CPR/First Aid. • Work with all community members involved in the child's life including paid and unpaid support for the youth. • Participate in administrative supervision as requested. • Ensure services follow all regulatory standards and contract terms and conditions. • Ensure safety and supervision of youth in care. • Assume on-call responsibility for all area residence halls on a scheduled basis. • Enforce the rules and regulations of University Housing. SSW should know and support University and/or residence house rules. Will document all violations and participate as required in the conduct system. • Will attend regular departmental meetings. • Will participate actively in departmental committees. • Will respond to crisis situations in the residence hall 24 hours a day when they are in the hall/on duty. • Will serve as a resource, referral, and communication agent, which may include distributing paperwork, flyers, and brochures. • Ensure compliance of staff with established Residence Life policies and procedures. • Serve as a liaison to the Resident Coordinator on reporting any problems or concerns through conducting apartment checks, reporting, and following up on housekeeping, maintenance and move requests. • Complete all required paperwork including monthly journal, or log of regular communication with youth and follow agency policies and procedures within timelines, to ensure smooth paperwork flow. • Acquires and develops resources to meet identified needs of youth as needed. • Provide positive feedback to youth and staff. • Provide culturally relevant and sensitive services to youth.• Work with Student Support Specialist (direct or indirect) through providing documentation and communication as needed. • Have a good working relationship with the Department of Health and Human Services. • Observe children/youth for signs of abuse and/or neglect and report as needed to the child abuse hotline. • Attend meetings, seminars, and other educational functions as identified. • Complete KVC required training under ADP Learning and annual courses according to agency schedule
