Student Wellness is recruiting students to serve as our Peer Wellness Ambassadors at the Elkhorn, South, and Fort Omaha campuses. A Peer Wellness Ambassador (PWA) promotes overall student wellbeing by working with their peers to increase awareness of wellness resources on/off campus, provide support, and encourage responsible decision-making. Ambassadors will support other students in realizing their own wellness goals through a strengths-focused, and positive approach. Some of the typical coaching topics include stress reduction, goal setting, time management, self-care, and emotional wellbeing.
It is important to note this is not considered therapy, but rather a navigator on their wellness journey.
PWA's will also work closely with the Student Wellness Coordinator to plan and implement different programming efforts for the student body. These efforts can include table or engagement events, training workshops, and different marketing strategies.
ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
* Assist in planning and implementing different wellness programming efforts on your campus
* Partner and participate in activities promoting student wellness or peer wellness coaching
* Maintain a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment for students to discuss their wellness goals or concerns
* Encourage connection to MCC and community partner resources
* Participate in training and professional development opportunities
* Provide individual wellness coaching sessions for students
* Engage in coaching conversations with students focused on developing wellness goals and skills to work towards those goals

Required Qualification
Must be currently enrolled as a student at MCC.
Must be a U.S. citizen.
Experience or skills in customer service, outreach, coaching, mentoring, volunteer work, or involvement in student clubs or organizations
Strong interest in promoting student health and wellness
Organized, dependable, and reliable
Willingness to discuss sensitive topics
Ability to work independently and as part of a team with students, student employees, and professional staff
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Salary/Hourly Rate $14.00

PWA's should expect between 10-15 hours of work each week (20 maximum)
Ability to work a flexible schedule to accommodate time in trainings, weekly supervisor meetings, outreach events, and coaching sessions
Available to work some evenings for outreach or coaching events, as needed
Completion of the NASPA Certified Peer Educator Training
Attendance at mandatory training sessions (10+ hours onboarding sessions, and quarterly continuing education sessions)
