Purpose or role of the position within the organization (Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities):

Students will be working with Dr. Kent Hatch on a study of the microbiome of marine invertebrates.

Duties and Principal Responsibilities:

ID specimens, DNA extration, PCR, gel electrophoresis, PCR amplification of the DNA, Gel electrophoresis, DNA barcoding, Normalization of DNA concentrations, Analysis of data.

Education Requirements: LIU student enrolled in an active degree program

Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:

Rate of Pay: minimum hourly rate $16 HR

Period of employment: Begin Date: 10/1/2024 End Date: 6/30/2025

Evaluation procedures and schedules: The student will report to Dr. Hatch. Dr. Hatch and the student will arrange hours and work assignments. Dr. Hatch will evaluate the student's progress.
