Job Description Summary

Serves as the lead authority to the Industrial Automation programs in the Workforce Education department with respect to all leadership and organizational effectiveness for clients served in the community. This includes students, instructors, adjunct faculty, and outside contractors. Responsible to prepare and deliver Industrial Automation coursework in engaging, innovative, and discipline-appropriate ways that reflect a commitment to success equity, respect for diversity, an understanding of culturally responsive teaching, and knowledge of the teaching field. The position reports directly to the Director of Workforce Education.

Required Education

Bachelor's degree in Automation, Engineering, Industrial, Manufacturing, Robotics or related field or equivalent experience.

Preferred Education

Master's degree in relevant field.

Required Experience

Five (5) years of progressive responsibility in an industrial automation profession or related field.

Knowledge, experience, and qualifications to teach a wide array of areas such as: automation; robotics; industrial maintenance; basic electricity; heating, ventilation, and air conditioning; blue print reading; computer-aided drafting and design; precision tools and measurements; quality control concepts; construction; fabrication and welding.

Preferred Experience

Two (2) years teaching, facilitation, coaching, and/or consulting experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* Serves as lead authority to the division with respect to all industrial, automation, robotics, and manufacturing needs for clients served.

* Understands, articulates, and implements best practices related to area of expertise.

* Responsible for the depth and breadth of knowledge in the industrial, automation, and related areas.

* Maintains compliance with state, federal, and certifying agency regulations as required per program offerings.

* Develops and sustains robust partnerships with industry related associations, community, and government entities for the purpose of supporting the alignment and coherence of clients learning experience.

* Responsible for identifying business requirements and recommending solutions to approach those needs.

* Develops and delivers training, learning, development, and customized solutions including contractual relationships with practicum, apprenticeship, and internship sites for program compliance and integrity.

* Creates relevant and interactive open enrollment programs.

* Prepares curriculum and teaches courses in the field of industrial automation to a diverse student population based on the department's approved course learning outcomes, utilizing a variety of instructional strategies appropriate to the needs of community college students and the standards of the discipline.

* Coordinates workforce program offerings on college campuses and offsite locations; including developing syllabi, curriculum, and course schedules. Monitors enrollments, progress, and grades of students to promote success; provides students with the opportunity to enter into the workforce after successful completion of course/programs.

* Ability to facilitate, coach, and consult for the purpose of helping those served to upskill their workforce, enhance productivity, solve a problem, or impact overall effectiveness.

* Participates actively in departmental responsibilities and departmental governance, including curriculum review and revision, program review, textbook selection, equipment needs, assessment of student learning outcomes at the course and program level, use of the college's learning management system, and other departmental activities.

* Provides teaching and mentoring services to students in a manner which does not discriminate based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, age, protected veteran status, political affiliation, or other protected categories.

* Ability to teach day, evening, and/or weekend classes in face-to-face, hybrid, online, and dual credit environments.

* Leads and is responsible for managing and hiring of all facilitators, coaches, and consultants with the need for specialized knowledge (includes instructors, adjunct faculty, and outside contractors).

* Responsible for supply and inventory management across programs as well as monitor resource needs and consumption within labs and skills training.

* Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.

* Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Weatherford College.

* Supports division and department goals through active and collegial engagement in decision-making and unit-level planning.

* Serves on college wide and departmental committees, councils, work groups, and task forces.

* Participates in graduation, general assembly, and other official college functions.

* Attends and participates in college wide, campus, department, or other activities and meetings. Recognizes and reflects standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.

* Complies with published college policies and procedures and meets professional standards for teaching in a community college.

* Performs other duties as may be assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Supervises instruction, duties, and activities of instructors and adjunct faculty at the Weatherford campus and off-site locations.

May supervise work study and student workers.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Industry related credentials/certifications (i.e. Lean, Six Sigma, OSHA, EPA, TDLR, Forklift, Welding)
