Salary: $58.48 - $61.56 HourlyLocation : Goldendale, WA 98620Job Type: Full-TimeJob Number: SW 2024-1Department: Human ResourcesOpening Date: 03/20/2024DescriptionJob SummaryThe Substation Wireman duties include all aspects of the PUD's electrical and substation construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair responsibilities. Operating and expanding the PUD's SCADA and other control and communications systems, as well as responding to and completing customer or PUD load and voltage trouble calls. Position provides technical support on all aspects of the above areas. This position requires successful completion of a three-year approved Wireman Apprenticeship or equivalent that includes passing the IBEW exam. Examples of Duties Essential FunctionsDuties may include but not limited to the following: Assists all meter shop staff in completing electrical construction, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair to facilities and equipment including:Office and warehouse facilitiesSubstations and switchyardsElectrical transmission equipment Electrical distribution system equipment (i.e. switches, regulators, reclosers, transformers, voltage recorders and capacitors)Water/Wastewater facilitiesGeneration facilities Completing normal electrical wiring, switching and planning switching operations as required.Determining, specifying, and requesting for purchase, parts and equipment for projects as directed.Participate in the crew tailboard discussion, and ensures a safe, organized, and neat working area.Continuously improve skills and become familiar with new technology. Practice safe procedures and techniques, and proper use of personal protective equipment. Other duties as assigned. Knowledge of:Fundamentals of electricity and mathematics as pertains to substation construction and maintenance work. Knowledge of electrical equipment maintenance, electrical construction, and general project management.Principles of electricity and wiring, and ability to apply this knowledge. Proficiency with use of laptop computers, and related general software. Pump motors and controls, VFD's.4-20 mA circuits, pressure and flow transmitters.PLC programming and use as well as ModBus communications. Ability to: Work practices, installation methods and procedures, test procedures and equipment, materials, tools and equipment used in the installation, operation and maintenance of electrical equipment and power systems. Use of standard office and industrial control computer software.Communicate clearly, orally and in writing, present ideas in a professional manner.Exercise functional and technical oversight over other employees.Work independently and as a team member with diverse staff throughout the organization.Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients of diverse backgrounds.Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and coworkers.Obtain First Aid and CPR certification and flagging certification Typical QualificationsMinimum Qualifications: This position requires successful completion of a three-year approved Wireman Apprenticeship or equivalent that includes passing the IBEW Exam. Valid First Aid/CPR Card, or the ability to obtain within 3 months of regular status employment.Post-offer background check required.Post-offer drug test required.Post-offer physical/functional test may be required. Education: High School Diploma or equivalency. Driver license: Valid Washington State driver's license and a valid Washington Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A , with air brakes, within 6 months of hire date. Develop specifications for Motor Control Centers at new facilities.Diagnose malfunctioning electrical equipment such as relays, switches, motors and sensing devices.Diagnose and repair or replace faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.Develop electrical and control wiring schematics for new and existing water/wastewaterfacilities.Develops PLC programs and is capable of troubleshooting the PLC program or operational processes by computer through the PLC. Supplemental InformationTypical Physical Demands/Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to drive, climb, bend, lift, stand, sit, read, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects, tools, and controls. Fulfill the physical requirements of the job, including working in both the shop and in the field, working outdoors in inclement weather. Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds and may be exposed to energized equipment. May be exposed to heat, radiation, and loud noises. Must be able to work in elevated positions. Work schedule is comprised of 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Be able to work unscheduled overtime. Required to have and carry a personal cell phone for which you will receive a stipend. Supervision or Functional or Technical Oversight Exercised: None. May provide technical oversight for Apprentices. Type and frequency of personal contact required (the general public, customers, organizations, and Klickitat PUD employees): Daily contact with the District's employees and the general public.
