  • Possess a working knowledge of cooking and food preparation equipment (experience preferred).
  • Be able to communicate and work well with others.
  • Must be able to relate and work with children in a positive manner.
  • Possess clean health habits.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Must have good attendance.
  • Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 40 lbs., and capable of standing for long periods of time.
  • REPORTS TO: Head Cook Food Service Director Building PrincipalPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Maintain kitchen work area, materials and equipment in a clean, sanitary and orderly manner.
    • Cooperate with Head Cook to prepare a consistently pleasing food product.
    • Assist in preparation and servicing all of the menu items.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
    • Order all supplies as required.
    • Monitor the instruction of student help in the cafeteria where applicable.
    • Store food in a proper and sanitary manner.
    • Perform major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, dry storage and milk coolers in regularly scheduled intervals.
    • Check and date all supply shipments that arrive, mark date in which was received along with expiration date.
    • If calling off, after contacting the Food Service Administrative Assistant for a sub, you then need to contact your building Head Cook so that arrangements can be made due to your absence.
    • Initiate daily cleaning and sterilization of all dishes, silverware and cooking utensils.
    • Promote good public relations.
    • Attend in-service and training sessions as required.
    • Properly utilize and return leftovers as required.
    • Operate the POS system as needed.
    • Complete other duties as assigned by your Head Cook or Food Service Director.
