Possess a working knowledge of cooking and food preparation equipment (experience preferred). Be able to communicate and work well with others. Must be able to relate and work with children in a positive manner. Possess clean health habits. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent (GED). Must have good attendance. Must be able to lift 30 lbs. and occasionally up to 40 lbs., and capable of standing for long periods of time. REPORTS TO: Head Cook Food Service Director Building PrincipalPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain kitchen work area, materials and equipment in a clean, sanitary and orderly manner.
- Cooperate with Head Cook to prepare a consistently pleasing food product.
- Assist in preparation and servicing all of the menu items.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Order all supplies as required.
- Monitor the instruction of student help in the cafeteria where applicable.
- Store food in a proper and sanitary manner.
- Perform major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, dry storage and milk coolers in regularly scheduled intervals.
- Check and date all supply shipments that arrive, mark date in which was received along with expiration date.
- If calling off, after contacting the Food Service Administrative Assistant for a sub, you then need to contact your building Head Cook so that arrangements can be made due to your absence.
- Initiate daily cleaning and sterilization of all dishes, silverware and cooking utensils.
- Promote good public relations.
- Attend in-service and training sessions as required.
- Properly utilize and return leftovers as required.
- Operate the POS system as needed.
- Complete other duties as assigned by your Head Cook or Food Service Director.
