POSITION: Substitute TeacherDEPARTMENT: Early Childhood ServicesREPORTS TO: Site CoordinatorDATE: September 2024 Job Summary:Job Summary: This position serves as a Substitute Teacher for a Grand Street Settlement Early Childhood classroom. Under the supervision of the Site Director the Substitute is responsible for assisting with the supervision of all children, implementing classroom activities, working cooperatively with and supporting other classroom staff and volunteers, and helping with the general maintenance of the classroom to ensure the health and safety of the children of the program. This job is PER DIEM and offers no union benefits.ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDEThe Substitute teacher's responsibilities chiefly fall within the following core functions, although s/he may perform other tasks as needed:

Child Growth & Development: Supervising all children's indoor and outdoor activities while incorporating positive guidance techniques Planning: Conducting activities that encourage social, emotional, physical and cognitive development in a manner that meets all applicable local, state, and federal standards

Program Implementation: Assisting Teacher in completion of attendance, health checks, home correspondence, home visit forms, accident/incident reports, referrals, safety inspections, etc.

Family Partnerships: Creating and maintaining a positive working relationship with parents, providing positive feedback on the child's ongoing developmental successes and challenges.

Requirements:

• High School diploma, Preferred AA or some college credits
• At least one year experience working with children ages 0-3 and families
• Ability to read and write English
• Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules and policy and procedures manuals
