Trinity Christian Academy is currently searching for highly motivated, detail-oriented individuals who possess a problem-solving mindset, a sense of humor and a stellar work ethic to join our family.The Substitute Teacher ensures the fidelity of systems in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with the overall goal of achieving learning outcomes for students. The Substitute Teacher will help students learn the subject matter and will contribute to their development as mature Christians in the absence of their regular teacher.JOB SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Maintain a productive, respectful, and orderly classroom, and follow classroom and school procedures as directed by the school.
  • Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons or unit projects, and to communicate these objectives to students.
  • Maintains as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom to which assigned.
  • Teaches lesson plan as outlined by the absent teacher.
  • Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and the times designated.
  • Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students
  • Recognize and assist parents to have primary responsibility for their children's education.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
  • Knowledge of current professional literature and best practices of teaching
  • Demonstrate an understanding of and a commitment to the distinctive qualities of Christian education
  • Demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret lesson plans, technical procedures, and textbooks
  • Ability to exercise control and maintain classroom discipline
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with teachers, support staff, parents, and students in a positive and constructive way
  • Ability to quickly shift priorities due to emergencies
  • Basic computer skills in Microsoft Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.)
  • Must be a self-starter and possess the ability to work both independently and with a team
  • Must pass drug test, finger prints, and local background check
  • Demonstrate a cooperative team spirit and genuine concern for others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality pertaining to school/student matters
  • Willingness to learn and serve
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
  • BS/BA degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 2-3 years experience
  • Appropriate /valid Teacher certification
