JOB DETAILSJob Class Description: SUBSTITUTE LUNCHROOM MONITORClass Code: 7985Job Title: SUBSTITUTE LUNCHROOM MONITORSupervisory Responsibilities: NONEPosition Type: SUBSTITUTEFLSA Classification: NON-EXEMPTReports To: PRINCIPAL*Location: VARIES BASED ON ASSIGNMENTCompensation:Commensurate with salary range on the DCPS Salary Schedule for class code 7998Hours Per Day: Varies based on vacancies each dayContracted Days: This is a non-contracted position-work availability varies based on needQUALIFICATIONSRequired: •High School Diploma, G.E.D., or satisfactory progress towards G.E.D.Knowledge Of:•Basic computer skills including use of mouse and keyboard to navigate computer, e-mail, and websites•Classroom management techniques•Documentation and record-keeping techniques•Communication skills•Policies and objectives of assigned program and activitiesJOB DESCRIPTIONJob Summary:Monitor students and assure proper conduct in the lunchroom. Help establish and maintain a calm and pleasant atmosphere in the cafeteria so that students may find mealtime a time to relax after the tasks of the morning and to refresh themselves for the tasks of the afternoon; to maintain cleanliness of food service facilities.Essential Functions, Duties and Responsibilities:•Monitor students and assure proper conduct in the lunchroom.•Collaborate with food service staff and principal to best meet the needs of the school and students as necessary.•Helps students develop and observe proper dining habits, both in terms of etiquette and nutrition.•Circulate among tables during the meal period to be available to help students as needed.•Demonstrate a positive attitude towards good nutrition.•Follow all safety and emergency procedures established by the district and/or school.•Maintain the cleanliness and order of the lunchroom.•Protect confidential information of students and fellow staff members.•Assure compliance with federal, state and district policy, administrative procedures and all other procedures/policies applicable to assignment.•Prioritize, plan and organize work to meet schedules and timelines.•Follow proper reporting procedures for all matters including but not limited to behavioral issues, bullying, suspected child abuse or neglect, etc.If approved as a substitute lunchroom monitor, you will be required to complete all state and Board mandated trainings.Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
