• High school diploma or G.E.D. (Some classified substitute positions may require additional educational requirements)
• Availability to work several days a week
• Successfully pass a job placement assessment (JPA) health assessment
• Complete a physical and TB risk assessment (Applicant's Expense)
• Complete a Federal/State criminal background check (Applicant's expense)
• Complete a Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) check (Applicant's expense)

The substitute screening committee reviews all applications and invites qualifed candidates to an interview

Candidates selected after the initial screening process and the interview process will be invited to a new hire orientation

Upon completion of new hire paperwork, FBI/State background check,Child Abuse and Neglect (CAN) check, physical/TB assessment, Job Placement Assessment (JPA) and attending a new hire orientation, substitutes may start substitute duties in the District
