Position Type: SubstituteDate Posted: 8/21/2024Location: Loveland City SchoolsDate Available: 9/1/2024Closing Date: 12/31/2025District: Loveland City School District - website CLASSIFIED SUBSTITUTE POSITION: Substitute Monitor On-call, as needed basis SALARY: $14.00/hour Qualified canditiates must obtain a Student Monitor Permit from the Ohio Department of Education before they can begin working. A full BCI (Ohio) and FBI (Federal) background check must be completed and sent to the Ohio Department of Education, upon offer of employment. Ohio law requires candidates for employment in schools to have a criminal records check. The Ohio Department of Education will verify that a records check is satisfactory for issuance of a teaching license or educational aide permit. For initial employment by any organization, the records check must be no more than 12 months old, even if you are currently working for another educational organization. Cost for background check completed at Loveland Schools is $50, cash, check or charge. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Monitors and maintains students in areas including, but not limited to the cafeteria, hallways, gymnasium, playground and other designated school areas to maintain a safe and calm environment by performing the following duties. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Supervises students in an orderly, consistent manner in their designated activity. Organizes students to and from their activity in orderly lines. Maintains and enforces safe, consistent and established rules for all students. Circulates amongst students throughout the activity. Informs an attending staff member at once of a serious infraction of disciplinary rules by a student. Notifies an attending staff member in the event of any potential physical altercation amongst students or any incident that appears to be of more than momentary disruption. Assists students when needed in their activity. Assumes responsibility for all equipment required for an activity. Participates in training programs as required or needed. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues and administration. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write routine reports and documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community. Ability to effectively present information to administration, staff, public groups, and/or Board of Education. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Valid certificate/license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory based on school objectives. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, peers, parents and community; ability to speak clearly and concisely in written or oral communication. Ability to use computers where applicable. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
