Key Responsibilities: Provide critical care services to medically fragile students as assigned Administer medications according to physicians' orders Administer asthma medication using a nebulizer when applicable Maintain medication records and reports Assist with personal hygiene tasks for assigned student(s) Maintain effective communication with medical, nursing, and district personnel Manage and provide health room services, including first aid and CPR, following established procedures Transport and supervise any student needing immediate care Perform medical procedures as ordered by students' physicians Provide guidance and counseling on health matters to students, staff, and parents according to professional standards Maintain accurate nurse's notes and records, including summaries of services provided Report all cases of diagnosed or suspected communicable disease to the necessary agencies Maintain an inventory of health room supplies Manage food allergies in the school setting and administer epinephrine in case of anaphylaxis Report environmental conditions that may affect the safety and health of students and staff Adhere to the school's emergency action plan, including the use of an AED Perform other duties as assigned by the school district or ESS Knowledge and Skills: Follow oral and written directions Establish effective working relationships with staff and students Follow students' IEP/504 plans to properly administer medications and care for injured or ill students Work with frequent interruptions Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality regarding student, staff, and parent information Special Requirements: Attend orientation/training and complete required district and state credentialing requirements (background check, fingerprinting) Physical Requirements: Frequent sitting, walking, standing, stooping, and occasional lifting of equipment and materials Vocal communication for exchanging ideas; hearing required for normal spoken word levels Visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, determining accuracy, and observing surroundings Occasional movement of students using wheelchairs or other devices Daily close contact with children to provide medical care Regular contact with other staff members and building administrators on assigned days as a substitute RN - $125.00/day
