Job SummaryMCUSD is actively seeking substitute applicants! Are you a retired teacher who would like to serve students once in a while in the classroom? Or are you an individual with a bachelors degree who might want to try out teaching? Are you an aspiring teacher? You do not have to be fully credentialed to be employed as a substitute teacher. Emergency substitute teaching permits can authorize a substitute to serve in day-to-day substitute settings in any classroom for a specific number of days. Below are several options to choose from. Go to www.ctc.ca.gov to find out more information on how to apply and information on fingerprinting. If you have previously worked for MCUSD please refer to the links of this posting to direct you to the MCUSD PREVIOUS EMPLOYEE SUBSTITUTE INTEREST REQUEST form.Requirements / QualificationsTo be considered for substitute teaching, please submit the following: Complete Edjoin application will include the following information: *Education *Work Experience (last 3 years) >Cover Letter >Resume >One of the following documents: a) A current, valid CA teaching credential (any subject); b) A current, valid CA Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit; or c) Be prepared to provide sealed, official transcripts demonstrating a bachelor's degree and CBEST results (if applicable) to apply for a CA Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit >Unofficial Transcripts You do not have to be fully credentialed to be employed as a substitute teacher. Our Credential Specialist is willing to assist you in renewing your current credential or in applying for a new credential. This process can be done by appointment. Please contact our office to set up an appointment with JoEllen Jacobs, Human Resources Coordinator, or schedule your appointment online at The Mariposa County Office of Education can now assist our substitutes in applying for a new emergency substitute credential as a part of your substitute employee intake. While applicants are welcome to go through the credential application process on their own, we hope that our offer for this service can be helpful to our community. Box 8 Mariposa, CA 95338 (209) ###-#### extension 1209 [email protected] STEPS TO EMPLOYMENT AS A SUBSTITUTE TEACHER It is common for a person who is interested in becoming a substitute teacher to call us or visit our office to find out what they need to do. Usually, they have a bachelor's degree, have taken the CBEST and are ready to start! In these cases, we will provide guidance on the steps that are taken to get an Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit and how to apply for employment with MCUSD. Step 1: Decide which permit option is right for you. *Emergency Substitute Teaching Permit for Prospective Teachers *Emergency 30-Day Substitute Teaching Permit *Emergency Career Substitute Teaching Permit Note: if you already hold a teaching credential (multiple subject, single subject, education specialist), proceed to Step 3. Step 2: Go to www.ctc.ca.gov/credentials/req-substitute.html and click on the appropriate permit type to match your interest. Each link will take you to the correct leaflet with instructions on how to apply. You will need to supply the required documents, your application, and your application fee directly to the CTC. You will also need to download their live scan form (Form 41-LS), take this to our local live scan operator, and be fingerprinted. You will need to pay these fees. Please carefully follow the steps that are provided in the leaflet. If you fail to submit your packet correctly to the CTC, it may come back to you after 50- 60 days with a request for you to provide more information. Step 3: Apply for substitute employment at MCUSD via www.edjoin.org/mariposaschools. A complete substitute application packet will include the following: Complete Edjoin application will include the following information: *Education *Work Experience (last 3 years) >Cover Letter >Resume >Copy of your current, active permit or credential > Unofficial Transcripts Step 4: Wait for MCUSD staff to contact you. Should you be hired, we will ask for several post-employment forms so that we can process you as an employee of our district. You may be required to complete training(s), a TB skin test and fingerprinting. If you have never been fingerprinted by our district before for employment or as a volunteer, we will need to fingerprint you for our own records. The CTC does not share fingerprint results with our district, so although you were recently fingerprinted to obtain a permit, you will need to submit this information for employment purposes with us as well. This will be at no cost to you and we will provide you with the form. The permit application process does take some time- applications may take up to 60 days to process through the CTC.
