Program Description: - Under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Nurse I Intern will provide direct patient care, gain hands-on experience, and enhance assessment skills.
- This program will also assist in the development of organizational and time management skills.
- While working in a collegial relationship with RNs, the Nurse Intern I will gain a better understanding of professional practice.
- Educational in-services are presented throughout the summer to further supplement the learning process.
- Summer Nurse I Interns will receive a competitive salary. Centralized and unit-based orientation will be provided.
- Our internship program can serve as a pipeline program. Upon successful completion of the internship, interns will be recruited to apply for a Patient Care Assistant position, with flexible hours to meet the demands of the academic school year. From here, the interns are encouraged to apply for a position as a Summer Nurse II intern.
Selected interns must commit to all program dates. There are no exceptions. Must be prepared for a full 36-40 hour commitment per week. Weekend rotation required. May be required to work a holiday. Must be available for a day and/or night shift position.
Eligibility Criteria: The Nursing Student must meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Attain junior status in the Fall of 2024.
- Anticipate graduation within two years from the end of the program.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.5 out of 4.0.Transcript will be required after completion of 2023 Fall semester.
- Compliance with all deadlines listed below (no exceptions).

Deadlines: - Applications for the 2024 Summer Student Nurse I Internship Program will begin starting December 1, 2023.
- The deadline to apply for the 2024 Summer Student Nurse I Internship Program is February 15, 2024.
