Position Summary This faculty role is responsible for 4-H Youth Development programming in Sumter County. It provides educational opportunities for youth in 4-H club meetings, coordinating local activities, and preparing youth for project and judging events. It utilizes the expertise of and works closely with advisory groups, community leaders, public officials and representatives of intended audiences to analyze data, identify needs, and assist in developing educational programs. It develops a federal Plan of Work that is equitable in meeting the varied socio-economic needs of the county and collaborates with other agencies and community groups to plan and implement programs. The Sumter County 4-H Extension program serves a school population of 4,229 with 678, 4th and 5th graders. This faculty member will be an active supporter of youth wishing to thrive and grow in leadership skills. A presence is necessary in the community by promoting 4-H not only in the classroom, but also at conferences, 4-H camp, and various other programs and may continue positive contact with the school system and area. This position requires frequent night meetings, some weekend work, and attendance at out-of-county meetings. A valid driver's license and access to a reliable private vehicle for official duty travel are required. Reimbursement for business travel will be provided. Transportation of others including 4-H Youth and Adult Clientele is also a common and necessary function of the job. 4-H competitions, overnight camps, and other events are conducted at district and state levels and necessitate travel and transport of participants. - Responsible for managing the 4-H program in Sumter County by providing educational programs for youth in 4-H club meetings, Coordinating local activities, and preparing youth for project and judging events

- Identify, recruit, train, and help supervise 4-H volunteers in planning, teaching and evaluating Cooperative Extension 4-H programs. AND
- Assist interested volunteers in the successful completion of the 4-H Chaperone Training.
- Manage Multiple programs who may receive leadership from Volunteers such as the Archery Team, Shotgun Team, Horse Club, BB Team, and Livestock Show Teams.
- Make reports to appropriate clientele, staff members, Board of Education, Board of Commissioners and public officials through mass media (social media, County websites, etc.) personal contacts an/or group meetings. Submit accurate and complete reports in a timely manner in GA Counts, 4-H enrollment, and the District Office.
- Provides leadership for volunteers, Para-professionals, and teen leaders in delivering 4-H and Youth programs
- Utilizes the expertise of and works closely with advisory groups, community leaders, public officials and representatives of intended audiences to analyze data, identify needs, and assist in developing educational programs
- Utilizes current research data and information on emerging issues in program development and teaching
- Develops a plan of work that is equitable in meeting the varied socio-economic needs of the county
- Develops and conducts relevant interdisciplinary programs with other staff members based on critical issues
- Collaborates with other agencies and community groups to plan and implement programs
- Conducts promotional efforts to expand the public's view of extension programming
- Demonstrates personal interest and involvement in community by participating in and supporting civic/community activities/organizations and networking with community leaders.
This position serves as a UGA Public Service Faculty member and a member of the Sumter County Extension Staff who will:
- Regularly participate in staff conferences.
- Maintain office inventory of office supplies and materials as needed to support the 4-H program.
- Assist with day to day operations of Cooperative Extension county office by answering the phone, greeting visitors, filing 4-H documents, etc. .... as needed.
- Other duties as assigned by the County Coordinator, SW District 4-H Program Development Coordinator, SW District Director and other State 4-H Faculty.
