We live it every day.Our Superintendents exercise direct supervision over assigned Projects providing direction, leadership, and guidance to employees and subcontractors, assisting them in planning, coordination and execution of their work in order to complete the project in a timely and economical manner with high standards of workmanship. Responsible for maximizing profits on assigned projects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities All duties and responsibilities include the following; however, other duties may be assigned. All job functions shall be accomplished including practicing, instructing all subordinates in, and enforcing all OSHA safety requirements/guidelines, in addition to all company policies and procedures. The Superintendent will be held directly accountable for safety performance. The essential functions include but are not limited to: Work with Project Manager in preparation of project schedule and budget. Become thoroughly familiar with the plans, specifications, contracts, subcontracts, purchase orders, daily correspondence, shop drawings, and all documents related to the project. Select methods and acquire equipment for the project. Understand and enforce company safety policies and organize safety meetings with employees and supervisors. Employ or discharge workmen and intermediate foremen as needed to ensure safe, efficient, economical, and timely completions of the work. Assure accurate completion or all documentation including safety reports, payroll preparation, labor unit report. Conduct meetings with subordinates, subcontractors, and others as appropriate in order to inform, coordinate and direct work. Approve or disapprove invoices and monies spent on the job and verify coding on all invoices and requisitions. Instruct supervisors in job direction and company policies and procedures. Inspect the work of employees and subcontractors to ensure construction conforms to requirements of the Contract Documents, and the quality needed to build repeat business. Superintendent is specifically responsible for jobsite compliance with all federally mandated policies and laws regarding equal employment opportunity and compliance with non-discriminatory laws and regulations.Knowledge/Skills/AbilityPrepare detailed construction projects plans, schedules and estimates. Read and interpret construction drawings, show drawings and specifications. Calculate square footage, volumes and percentages using a personal computer or calculator. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Prepare and update project schedules, transmittals and submittals using personal computer software. Manage large groups of personnel and to accomplish desired results through subordinate levels of management with little or no supervision.Physical Requirements Physical demands are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. May be required to work long hours for extended periods of time.EducationHigh School diploma or GED. Associate or bachelor's degree in construction management preferred.Experience5 plus years of progressively responsible experience on Commercial Construction Projects and management of field personnel. A demonstrated ability to have successfully managed ground up commercial projects.
