Job Summary:We are looking to add Supervised Visitation Advocate to our team. As a Supervised Visitation Advocate you will serve children and families who reside in Oswego County who are either mandated to participate in supervised visitation or who have agreed to supervised visitations or exchanges.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provides services, independently, in a wide variety of settings, to people of all ages, depending on the family composition.
  • Develops a trusting relationship with the child and family members and engages them in services.
  • Provides services that prioritize meeting the needs of the child and keeping them safe.
  • Continually assesses risk of re-offending and appropriately intervenes to protect the child. When needed, stops and/or end the visit to address a parent's inappropriate behavior.
  • Works collaboratively with the contractor to develop visitation plans.
  • Reviews and amends visitation plan and consults with appropriate parties.
  • Conducts program in services as assigned
  • Conducts intakes for program eligibility and assists children and families with developing and carrying out the visitation safety plan.
  • Works collaboratively in scheduling visitation sessions as per court order and ensures the proper resources are in place
  • Conducts debriefing session after each visit with children of appropriate age or development.
  • Monitors visits to ensure designated boundaries are maintained during visitation, according to the visitation plan. Provides needed coaching and interventions to parents during visits.
  • Documents detailed observations concerning any and all child /parent interactions
  • Upon Subpoena provides in-court testimony
  • Reports consumer infractions and concerns about consumer behavior to supervisor(s).
  • Asses visiting parent's compliance and success to determine appropriate skill development to allow for visits to occur in the community and/or consumers home.
  • Completes safety assessment prior to scheduling and conducting visits outside of the controlled environment at the center
  • Completes all required paperwork in compliance with OCO policies and procedures and federal/state regulations and is responsible for maintaining the accuracy and confidentiality of consumer records.
  • Completes data entry into program designated databases, compiles and prepares statistical data for timely and accurate program reporting
  • Transports consumers to and from their Supervised Visits.
  • Frequently cleans and sanitizes visitation rooms and items
  • Identifies consumer needs and provides linkage and referral to community resources.
Job Requirements:
  • Must exhibit professionalism, good judgment and flexibility and possess the ability to handle stressful situations in a calm, professional manner.
  • Must attend 40 hour training by SAF and any other training as assigned
  • Must be effective in working with a diverse population, including people experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, homelessness, poverty, unemployment, convicted criminals and other special needs.
  • Must demonstrate knowledge about childhood development, trauma, risk factors associated with visitation, and methods of interrupting patterns associated with grooming and coercion.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain cooperative, effective, courteous, respectful, empowering, non-judgmental. relationships with victims, offenders, community agencies, volunteers, interns and staff.
  • Ability to multi task and prioritize duties
  • Willingness to foster agency, department, and program wide cooperation's and team work through positive and constructive communication techniques
  • Must have knowledge of public and community services and resources.
  • Must possess strong organizational; verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to read and comprehend complex information and to perform technical writing.
  • Must be able to work independently, be motivated, resourceful, organized and able to meet goals in a timely manner.
  • Must be able to work outside normal business hours to meet program objectives and client needs.
  • Must successfully attend and complete required training
  • Must have NYS Driver's License with driving record within agency policy and have access to a reliable vehicle; must maintain Agency Driver Certification.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1-3 years related job experience with children.
  • 2 years of college in Behavioral Sciences or related field;
  • Any equivalent combination of education, experience and training.
