Buckland is looking for a Supervisor Air & Ocean

What youll be doing

The Operations Supervisor, Air & Ocean is responsible for managing and coordinating the daily operations of the company's Air and Ocean Operations department. This includes managing the operational staff, ensuring efficient customer service, and overseeing all operational processes. This position will assist with developing and implementing strategies and plans to improve the department's efficiency, customer service, and personnel management.

You will be responsible for

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to clients, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ensure the timely processing of Air, Ocean, Rail, ISF and AES advances.
  • Handle complex customs issues and projects.
  • Work with Customs and other government agencies.
  • Monitor shipment advances, volumes, and ETAs daily.
  • Run internal and external reports for audits, data analysis, and cross reference.
  • Identify possible problems and/or communicate any suggestions for operational improvements and assist in the implementation of changes.
  • Research tariff and classification of goods to comply with US Customs regulations as required.
  • Handle requests from internal and external clients in a prioritized, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Ensure entries and documentation is prepared and completed to customs regulation guidelines.
  • Enhance knowledge of new Customs polices and/or regulations including PGAs and FTAs.
  • Contact clients and/or third parties to resolve issues and/or request additional required documents and/or information.
  • Act as liaison between CBP, other government agencies and operations to ensure compliance with CBP regulations.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise team members, conduct team meetings, monitor attendance, work schedules, and provide guidance when issues/errors occur.
  • Assist with employee onboardings.
  • Aid in client onboardings.
  • Manage a group of 20 to 30 employees.
  • Conduct performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Assign tasks to team members and confirm they're being performed.
  • Assist with training and guidance of direct reports.
  • Monitor work volumes of team.
  • Stay updated on, implement, adhere to, and enforce company policies and/or Customs regulations.

What we need from you

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years in custom brokerage or logistics experience.
  • Intermediate MS Office knowledge.
  • High level of organization, time management and attention to detail.
  • Leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience with completion of complex entries.
  • CCS Designation or LCHB training preferred.
  • Able to function in a time sensitive environment.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking in processes, procedures, issues, and communications.
