JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the overall flow of daily activity within the Workers' Compensation Department. Responsible for designation of all new claims to appropriate case management. Responsible for direct supervision of Workers' Comp. Claims Specialist positions. Responsible for supporting the handling of complex claims up to and including litigated files. Responsible for maintaining professional working relationship with outside medical providers (i.e. Care Spot).
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Leads and provides coaching/support for the Workers' Compensation Claim Representatives and is responsible for managing the overall daily flow and assignment of Workers' Compensation claims to the team.
* Supports the team in gathering information and answering team member questions related to Workers' Compensation files.
* Provides review and analysis of Workers' Compensation information to identify and address injury trends and return to work opportunities.
* Supports development of presentations and outreach materials to use with internal partners to educate them on the Workers' Compensation process.
* Supports Senior Manager of Workers' Compensation during meetings and presentations with key internal and external partners.
* Supports the Senior Manager of Workers' Compensation, outside counsel, and examiners with complex and litigated Workers' Compensation claims.
* Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDX policy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
* Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION:
* Bachelor's degree is required in Health Care, Business, Finance, or Risk Management.
* Master's degree is preferred in Health Care, Business, Finance, or Risk Management.
EXPERIENCE:
* 5+ years of claims experience any line.
* 3+ Years Workers' Compensation claims experience preferred.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
* High degree of organizational and multi-tasking skills are essential.
* Must have experience with prioritizing tasks on a daily basis.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
* Daily management of departmental activity including assignment of tasks for Workers' Comp. Claims Representative positions.
* Directly responsible for special projects such as claims archiving and file reviews.
* Responsible for supporting the relationship with outside medical providers.
* Presents training information for meetings with management, safety meetings and business units.
* Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
