Position Summary Manage food safety and occupational safety standards and practices for the assigned campus. Identify and influence food safety and occupational safety education and training needs. Maintain technical and process-related programs and tools to address education and training needs. Effectively integrate food safety and occupational safety compliance prevention into day-to-day operations at multiple levels and functional areas within the Company. Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain food safety and occupational safety training programs to ensure governmental complianceManage and support existing food safety programs and emerging prioritiesProvide technical support to associates and management regarding food safety and occupational safety programs.Ensure associates receive food safety and occupational safety orientation training and all required annual trainingsManage the Powered Industrial Truck training program and ensure all associates are properly certifiedReview OSHA Logs and ensure accuracyServe as Chairperson on the Accident Review Committee and Safety CommitteeConduct audits of facilities to ensure General Food Safety (GFSI) and safety complianceLead annual GFSI recertification auditsParticipate in food safety and occupational safety forums and sponsor workshops to ensure continued compliancePartner with internal and external business partners at various levels of the organizationConduct training for associates and management related to food safety and environmental health and safety.Other safety related tasks as assignedPeriodically review and monitor electronic files for compliance to annual and new hire certification and trainings for food safety and occupational safety KnowledgeSeasoned knowledge of food safety, sanitation audits, pest control, food safety training, weights & measures, Country of Origin requirements, regulatory food codes (FDA Food Code)Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook SkillsSelf-starter with solid interpersonal skillsExcellent communication and organizational skillsStrong coaching, training and motivational skills: ability to leadProven ability to excel in a team environmentAbility to juggle multiple priorities and reprioritize based on emerging risk AbilitiesMay require overnight travel, as necessary (often reacting to inclement weather issues)Ability to communicate and complete required record keeping functionsMust be able to work needed schedule to perform assigned dutiesAbility to work in a -5 degree to 90+ degree Fahrenheit environment (temperature varies within each department) for long periods of timeWork in a warehouse environment with varying conditions (i.e. cool temperatures, concrete floors, powered industrial trucks) EducationMaster's Degree in public health or food science related field.Bachelor's degree, or equivalent combination of experience and or specialized certificationBachelor's Degree in a life science (food science, biology, microbiology, zoology) or public health field.1 to 3 years' experience in managing food safety or quality assurance related work including training and auditing.Registered Sanitarian or state equivalent and Certified Professional-Food Safety (CP-FS) credentials We are an organization that values diversity and encourages all qualified individuals to apply without regard to sex, race, color, ancestry, national origin, citizenship status, religion, age, marital status (including civil unions), military service, veteran status, pregnancy (including childbirth and related medical conditions), genetic information, sexual orientation, gender identity, legally recognized disability, domestic violence victim status or any other characteristic protected by law.
