This position occasionally performs the duties of the Patient Access Specialist and FACES roles.Patient registration areas supported by this role may include main hospital registration, emergency department registration, pre-registration, financial counseling, and Children's Specialty Clinic registration. The department operates 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. The patient registration supervisor is expected to be on call during the week and on rotating weekends.This position is responsible for supporting the team by assigning daily work, answering questions and solving escalated problems, recruiting and hiring qualified employees, ensuring an engaged workforce, and appropriately managing the staff schedule. The Patient Registration Supervisor represents the department at meetings with internal and external stakeholders and must be knowledgeable in all department functions.Location: On-site in Minneapolis and St. Paul. This is not a remote work position.DHS Background Study Required? YesLicense/Certification/Registration required:* MNSure certification required within 3 months of hire dateEducation:* Associate's degree in business, healthcare administration or related field, or equivalent work experiencePreferred Education:* Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare administrationExperience:* Two years' experience in a healthcare setting and one year in a related leadership rolePreferred experience:* Three years' experience in patient access (i.e. registration, scheduling, financial counseling, billing, or related field) or other high volume customer service environmentKnowledge/Skills/Abilities:* Outstanding knowledge of customer service, communication, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills.* Demonstrated knowledge of patient access operations and medical office procedures.* Knowledge of medical terminology and services provided in a hospital or clinic setting.* Knowledge of governmental and commercial insurance products and related registration requirements.* Knowledge of Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Iowa Medicaid products and enrollment requirements.* Knowledge of service recovery and conflict resolution.* Ability to lead, mentor and motivate a team that delivers exceptional customer service in person and via telephone.* Skill in critical thinking and problem solving.* Skill in general office equipment and software; technical aptitude.* Ability to effectively work in both a team environment and independently.* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with providers, patients, families, peers, and direct reports.* Ability to develop and deploy workflows that improve efficiency and experience.* Ability to adapt to and support change.* Ability to research, analyze and problem solve registration denials issues.* Ability to be flexible and adaptable based on business needs.* Ability to manage time effectively and organize work.Physical DemandsPlease click here to view the Physical DemandsThe posted pay range represents rates for a grouping of multiple jobs within a salary grade.
