Summary:
Oversees a team of Leave Specialists and manages communication and administration of the leave of absence program. Ensures company leave of absence programs are operated in accordance with applicable laws, regulations and policies.
Primary responsibilities for role (level-specific responsibilities should be included in the chart below):
? Manages daily activities of leave administration staff, including planning and organizing work flow, conducting performance evaluations, etc.
? Manages external vendor relationships, including consultants and contractors.
? Participates in various leave of absence-related projects which involve revision, development and/or re-design of existing leave programs, including project management, partnering with appropriate internal and external resources, and ensuring that projects are on-time and on-budget, while achieving desired goals and objectives.
? Assists with development and implementation of overall strategy and philosophy related to the leave of absence programs.
? Develops and maintains leave of absence policies and procedures.
? Ensures programs are administered in compliance with established guidelines, processes, procedures and controls; ensures compliance with applicable laws and regulations such as Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and Americans with Disability Act (ADA).
? Responsible for maintaining leave of absence information is up to date on the company intranet and leave of absence portal.
? Educates managers and supervisors on the appropriate processes and procedures; creates and presents training when needed.
? Perform operational audits to make sure systems of record, employee leave cases and procedures are being administered appropriately and within deadlines.
? Assist with other leave of absence functions, including management of leave of absence cases.
? Create and maintain standard proceedures within the Leave Team.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Advanced knowledge of leave of absence and employment related federal, state, and local laws. Advanced knowledge of ADP and SAP and other software programs such as MS Office, Excel and Word. Advanced analytical, organizational, oral and written communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills, including the ability to perform root cause analysis. Ability to work across departments and with various levels. Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
Education
Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources or related area. Benefits Certification preferred.
Experience
Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of leave of absence experience. Supervisory experience required. Leave of Absence Management System preferred
Equivalency
Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements. Example: If a job level requires a Bachelor's degree plus 4 years of experience, an equivalency could include 8 years of experience, an Associate's degree with 6 years of experience, or a Master's degree with 2 years of experience.
Occupational Demands
Work is performed in an office environment with exposure to electrical office equipment. Frequently sits for 4-6 hours per day. Frequent repetitive hand movement of both hands with the ability to make fast, simple, repeated movements of the fingers, hands, and wrists. Occasionally walks. Occasionally bends and twists neck. Light to moderate lifting and carrying objects with a maximum lift of 35lbs. Frequently drives to other facilities. Able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand; with the ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken and written words and sentences. Frequently interacts with others, relates sensitive information to diverse groups.
