Summary As the Associate Director for Business Operations in the Center Operations Directorate, you will be supporting the Director to manage and integrate across the cost, schedule, and risk management aspects of programs, projects, and initiatives which span across the organization. You will lead the analyses of business operations in the areas of facilities, logistics, environmental management, and aviation operations, and implement new practices and strategies to effectively manage the organization.Overview

Duties
  • Perform business and/or management operations to resolve technical and programmatic issues involving facilities, logistics, and environmental management across organizational boundaries within Ames Research Center.
  • Supervise the work of the organization. Foster the development of others, facilitate cooperation and teamwork, and support constructive resolution of conflicts.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor the business operation status of organizational responsibilities and actions to ensure efficiency and timely completion.
  • Develop risk assessment and mitigation strategies for the Center Operations Directorate covering facilities, logistics, environmental management, and aviation operations.
  • Support all Center Operations Directorate budget formulation activities, including preparation of external budget materials and internal deliberations.
  • Support the director and deputy director for the Center Operations Directorate and represent Ames Research Center among key stakeholders such as HQ OSI and Missions Directorates.
  • Lead teams into deep dives analyses resulting in new initiatives that require end-to-end assessment of complex issues affecting multiple organizations and assimilation of administrative, technical, and fiscal data.
  • Provide support and recommendations through team participation to major agency initiatives such as NASA 2040, Center and Agency Master Plans as well as Construction of Facilities, Consolidation and Demolition plans.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Qualifications Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.To qualify for GS-15, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 level:
  • Leading teams to analyze and manage resources for programs and projects, including the formulation and justification of budget requests;
  • Collecting and analyzing data and using this analysis to evaluate the effectiveness of programs/projects and recommending improvements to leadership;
  • Leading assessments of complex projects, integrating the technical, cost, schedule and risk parameters and presenting assessment findings to stakeholders.
