Job Description The Cold Chain Storage Specialist is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of cold chain operations, ensuring the safe and efficient storage, handling, and transportation of temperature-sensitive products. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, ensuring product quality, and minimizing product loss in a cold storage environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Cold Storage Management:
- Oversee the daily operations of cold storage facilities, including refrigeration units and cold rooms, ensuring optimal temperature conditions are maintained.
- Monitor temperature and humidity levels, making adjustments as needed to meet product specifications.
- Ensure inventory is accurately managed and stored in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits of the cold storage environment to identify and resolve any potential risks or equipment issues.
- Quality Control:
- Work closely with quality control teams to ensure that all cold chain products meet the necessary quality standards.
- Ensure proper handling, packaging, and labeling of temperature-sensitive products.
- Implement procedures to ensure compliance with all safety and hygiene standards for cold storage operations.
- Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure cold chain operations comply with all local, national, and international regulations, including food safety and pharmaceutical standards.
- Prepare and maintain records related to storage temperatures, inventory, and product quality for auditing purposes.
- Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry best practices and ensure the facility adheres to them.
- Inventory Management:
- Manage and track the movement of cold chain products within the storage facility, ensuring accurate stock levels and preventing stock-outs or overstocking.
- Work with the supply chain and logistics teams to optimize storage space and improve overall cold chain efficiency.
- Perform regular cycle counts and coordinate with the warehouse team to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Team Collaboration and Training:
- Train and mentor staff on cold chain best practices, safety procedures, and regulatory compliance.
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., logistics, procurement, quality assurance) to ensure smooth operations.
- Address any operational issues and develop strategies to improve the efficiency of cold chain operations.
- Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:
- Identify and resolve issues related to temperature deviations, equipment failures, or inventory discrepancies.
- Develop contingency plans for handling temperature excursions and other cold chain disruptions.
- Reporting and Documentation:
- Prepare and present reports on cold chain performance, inventory status, and any incidents or issues.
- Document and track any deviations from established procedures and coordinate corrective actions.
Requirements
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Experience:
- Proven experience working in cold chain storage or logistics, preferably in industries such as pharmaceuticals or healthcare.
- Experience managing cold storage facilities and temperature-controlled supply chains.
- Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of cold chain logistics, including storage, transportation, and regulatory compliance.
- Familiarity with cold chain technologies, including temperature monitoring systems, refrigeration units, and other related equipment.
- Skills:
- Strong organizational and inventory management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in warehouse management software and inventory tracking systems.
- Certifications (preferred but not required):
- Certification in food safety, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), or equivalent regulatory training.
- Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field is a plus.
Physical Requirements: - Ability to work in cold environments (typically temperatures ranging from -20°F to 40°F, depending on the product).
- Capability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs.) and stand for extended periods.
