Nulixir, a nano-biotechnology start-up, is a VC-backed business-to-business (B2B) company that develops, manufactures, and licenses intellectual property (IP) for smart nanocarriers, called nanovesicles, which optimize the performance of functional ingredients in food & beverage products. Nulixir, as the Function HouseTM, is revolutionizing the functional ingredient space by introducing a realm of functionality and shaping the future of intelligent food. This patented technology (70+ patents) has applications across multiple verticals in food and beverage (e.g., nootropics, energy stimulants, vitamins, probiotics, protein, etc.).
Founded in 2019, the company brought together a team of CPG leaders, cancer researchers, US attorneys, and nutritionists to overcome long-standing challenges in the Food and Beverage Industry. The firm's founder has extensive experience in the development of nanocarriers for cancer therapeutics.
In the past-year, Nulixir sales have grown ~8x with strong interest from small, mid-size and many large CPG companies to partner with Nulixir and incorporate the technology in their products. Nulixir boasts an impressive board of senior executives from companies like Pepsi, Danone, McKinsey & Company, Paine Schwartz Partners, etc. The company currently has 30+ employees with a stellar executive team who come from food B2B companies such as ADM, Givaudan, Kerry, and ex-MBB consultants.
Position Overview:
Nulixir is seeking to fill a new position responsible for managing our end-to-end supply chain processes for our nanotechnology ingredient company business focused on food and beverage (F&B) manufacturing customers. We create, sell, manufacture and ship proprietary ingredients to customers using our patented IP processes to significantly enhance functional ingredient efficacy within customer's food and beverage products. This role will be directly reporting to the COO.
This newly created position, Supply Chain Manager, will develop, direct and communicate the Company's supply chain strategy in collaboration with the senior executive team. This role will be overseeing and managing the company's overall supply chain and logistics operations in order to maximize the process efficiency and optimize costs. This includes vendor management and negotiations, procuring new vendors, raw material and finished goods planning, inventory management, order fulfillment, etc. You will be a member of the company's operations team and work closely with internal and external stakeholders.
Position Location:
This position will be at our HQ facilities located in the Austin, TX Metropolitan Area.
In this critically important role, you will be responsible for:
- Manage all types of raw material procurement (e.g., Actives, Oils, Surfactants, Packaging, etc.) from identifying multiple vendors to finalizing and negotiating contracts with chosen vendors
- Work with manufacturing and R&D teams on sourcing strategy, supplier market analysis and cost trade-off analyses to ensure quality, pricing, and delivery standards are met for all raw materials
- Analyze raw material spend and evaluate current suppliers; consolidate spend across supply base to create leverage, analyze purchasing trends and develop sourcing alternatives. Identify new high potential suppliers
- Develop a system of master data to track all active as well as discontinued raw materials, WIP, finished good SKUs existing across client base as well as part of internal R&D
- Track inventory levels of raw materials, WIP, and finished goods to ensure they stay within planned levels; define planned minimum and maximum levels by SKUs based on advanced inventory modeling
- Responsible for continuous cycle and physical counting, audits, tracking and reporting of inventory
- Build raw materials and ingredient supply plan to ensure readiness for new product launches as well as fulfillment of orders for on-going / recurring finished product
- Oversee suppliers' adherence to committed delivery window thus ensuring Nulixir meets customer orders in a timely manner
- Collaborate with the internal sales team and stakeholders to understand the specific customer requirement for each order (volume, delivery date, sample requirements, format of finished goods, etc.)
- Collaborate with manufacturing to build weekly production plan to ensure timely fulfillment of all customer orders within aligned lead-times; achieve 98%+ order fulfilment rate
- Manage order fulfillment and sample requirements, allocate stock, release inventory, monitor status, manage all necessary documentations
- Co-ordinate with co-packers of Nulixir's customers to ensure timely delivery of Nulixir finished product
- Identify 3rd party logistics providers (primarily for transportation) and shortlist select 3PLs who will be Nulixir's preferred partners along with negotiating competitive rates
- Ensure timely availability of transportation by coordinating with preferred 3PLs to pick up finished product and deliver to client location
- Optimize end-to-end supply chain costs through continuous improvement of processes, identifying cheaper sources of supply and optimizing inventory to minimize storage requirements
- Identify internal team KPIs and goals, and track performance of these teams against metrics

Relevant Job Experiences, Skills, and Key requirements for this role:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain, or a similar discipline. Master's degree preferred
- minimum of 5+ years of experience in procurement and supply chain
- CPG / Food & Beverage experience highly preferred but not a strict requirement.
- experience managing and negotiating with vendors and third parties (e.g., 3PLs)
- developing detailed and complex supply chain procurement models with strong analytical rigor and attention to detail
- strong supply chain technical skills including inventory management, short and long-term supply & demand planning, vendor management
- hands-on experience with supply chain management software (e.g., SAP Modules, Kinaxis, etc.)
- experience with rapidly growing, fast paced businesses
- experience setting up new supply chain systems, processes and controls in a corporate organization preferred
- entrepreneurial spirit, seeing what needs to be done and even if you don't have the answer, you can figure out how to get there. This ranges from day-to-day processes right up to large strategic initiatives
- able to work effectively under pressure and agile in approach to requirements from a fast moving and growing business and the ability to manage stakeholder expectations
- effective communication at all levels within the business from junior team members right up to C-suite as well as vendors and other third-party suppliers

Pay Range:
- $90 - $130K
