Job Description:The Area Manager ll, Supply Chain Quality Assurance role within the Distribution Center ( DC ) plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the DC's operations for Ocean State Job Lot (the Company ). This role involves collaborating with leadership to develop and implement efficient quality assurance processes, identifying and addressing areas for improvement, and providing training and support to ensure understanding and adoption of new procedures. By working closely with functional business leaders and DC Support, the Area Manager ll, Supply Chain Quality Assurance Manager role contributes to a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the organization.Key Responsibilities
  • Assess DC operations to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement, including, but not limited to, evaluating inventory, Audit Department operations, receiving, picking, packing, shipping, as well as analyzing order fulfillment data to identify trends in defects. Oversee other operational areas within the DC as needed.
  • Conduct quality audits to ensure orders are fulfilled accurately and efficiently, meeting store and customer expectations.
  • Optimize the flow of goods within the DC.
  • Coordinate with allocation teams to ensure timely completion and push through the DC.
  • Handle all quality notifications from business partners, to include root cause analysis, countermeasure proposals and communication to concerned parties about process adjustments.
  • Observe and identify process opportunities with functional area leadership.
  • Support training efforts related to process updates.
  • Document and catalog standard operational procedures to ensure standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with Business Support and MIS to implement process improvements that align with reporting and warehouse management systems. Lead process evaluation and design sessions to identify and implement best practices, ensuring alignment with systemic capabilities and business objectives.
  • Manage project timelines and cross-departmental tasks for process implementations.
  • Ensure accuracy and adherence to compliance standards by communicating them and monitoring paperwork completion. Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations.
  • Enforce safety policies and procedures within the DC and address associate concerns.
  • Ensure timely completion of all reports (i.e., waves, audits, feedback forms).
  • Lead the hiring, development, and performance management of associates, including, but not limited to, recruiting, training, conducting performance reviews, coaching, and addressing disciplinary issues.
  • Develop, assign, and oversee team work schedules for and assignments to ensure efficiency within the area of responsibility.
  • Manager may need to physically assist the team at times with a spectrum of physical activities, but not a regular responsibility.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in business management, operations, or supply chain is preferred.
  • 6 or more years of experience in an operations or warehouse environment is required.
  • 6 or more years of experience motivating and leading a diverse workforce is preferred
  • 3 or more years experience in quality assurance within a distribution center is preferred.
  • Prior experience conducting or leading training efforts is desired.
  • Experience with warehouse management software systems is preferred.
  • Effective communicator (written and verbal); bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
  • Proficient in Google platform (i.e., Sites, Drive, Docs, Slides, Sheets).
Work Environment:
  • The warehouse environment is characterized by temperature extremes, noise, movement of conveyors and equipment, and other conditions associated with the operation of a high volume distribution center.
  • Must be able to do physical activities including, but not limited to, the ability to position oneself to properly complete tasks, frequently move and transport merchandise, bend, lift, stretch and reach, as well as ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely throughout the warehouse. Should be able to lift and move 50 lbs of material on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to remain stationary and continually move for up to 10 - 12 hours per day.
