Join our Self Direction Team in the role of Support Broker! Participate and collaborate as an active member of the persons team, or Circle of Support, serving as liaison between individual and families, the Fiscal Intermediary, Care Manager, and Community Support Professionals. Develop comprehensive plans and documentation required for self-directed budgets, all in support of the Racker mission and vision of a world where all people know they belong.

Racker will support your training and certification in this role, which includes online classes and a three month training program at a Racker location. Once trained, the position offers great flexibility in working location, including working from home. This position is a Monday through Friday schedule.

Rate of pay is between $22 to $24 per hour, depending on experience and offers a full benefits package. This full time Support Broker position will support families in Rackers Self-Direction program in the Cortland, Tioga and Tompkins county areas. Experience with Self Direction and NYS Broker Certification preferred but not required.

  • Develop comprehensive documentation required for self-directed services including Person-Centered Planning, Self-Direction Budgets, Staff Action plans, and other relevant documentation as dictated by the individuals supports and services.
  • Consult with other professionals who work with the individual (Teachers, Support staff, Care Managers, local vendors, etc.) to facilitate meaningful activities and to ensure that any additional services or referrals are made.
  • Ensure satisfaction and quality of staff support with the person and their circle of support
  • Face to face attendance at LifePlan and Planning Team meetings as required with a minimum of two meetings per year, and ensure further support if needed or requested by the individual.
  • Assist the individual in identifying, recruiting, and hiring staff.
  • Provide education to the circle of support in their responsibilities in implementing and maintaining the plan.
  • Monitor the budget and expenditures to ensure compliance with the fiscal allotments outlined in the budget.
  • Review the monthly expenditure report and help the individual to understand and manage their budget.

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team, strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Experience in the OPWDD (Office for Persons with Developmental Disabilities) field is highly recommended.
