Position Overview
Developmental level class in food service occupation requiring working knowledge of safety practices (kitchen equipment); under general supervision, serves residents attractive, nutritious meals using clean plates and utensils; cleans kitchen and serving areas and equipment to ensure sanitary conditions.
Full performance level class in the laundry occupation requiring considerable knowledge of washing and drying machine operations, stocking laundry; under direction, provides clean, intact clothing and linen for residents and staff.
Summary of Job Duties
Job Duties-Food Services:
Sets up/tears down service lines; prepares bread and pours drinks; portions, slices, wraps and serves food; sets/clears tables.
Cleans work and dining areas and kitchen equipment; scraps, rinses, stacks and stores dishes; cleans, sorts, wraps (in napkins) and stores silverware; fills napkin holders and salt and pepper shakers; stocks supplies; sweeps and mops; empties trash; may clean pots and pans.
Sets up/clears carts; delivers food trays to room-bound residents; ensures that residents follow prescribed diets; sets up tray cards; substitutes food when requested by supervisor, residents. 3-20%
May assist cooks by preparing standard items such as salads, sandwiches, desserts cooked cereals, pre-mixed pastries, and dietary supplements; may decorate dining area seasonally; may assist new residents by explaining food service procedures, carrying trays, and/or helping to feed residents.
Job Duties-Laundry Services:
Receives soiled laundry; sorts, washes, dries, counts, irons/presses, fold and stocks laundry; marks new clothes; issues clean laundry; delivers, stocks laundry and supplies; keeps inventory count of pieces of laundry handled.
Cleans laundry room and equipment; may determine when items are ready to be disposed of or used as rags; may prepare or recommend orders for new clothes and linen annually.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Equivalent to tenth grade education plus six (6) months food service experience. Ability to count and read warning signs.
