Support Specialist

Job Title: Support Specialist Reports To: Building Principal Classification: Paraprofessional (Clerical/Teacher Assistant) Wage/Hour Status: Non-exempt Days: 223 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Paraprofessional/Administrative Support Staff, Pay Grade 204 Contract: None Date Revised: 11/15/2023 Primary Purpose: Responsible for performing receptionist and clerical duties as related to the office of the building principal. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification:

* High school diploma or equivalent.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Minimum Assessment Standard: Broad knowledge of MS Word.

* Fluent in English and Spanish (verbal and written) preferred.

* Technology skills in all Microsoft office programs.

* Strong time management skills.

* Ability to operate various office equipment (copier/fax machine).

* Effective communication skills with staff, students and parents.

* Ability to work with people effectively.

* Human relation skills.

* Ability to exercise good judgement in performing responsibilities.

Experience:

* Previous office experience preferred.

Major Duties and

Responsibilities: Communication/Reception and Phones:

* Interact with and provide assistance to teachers, students, parents, school and district personnel.

* Assist in scheduling appointments, meetings and conferences.

* Answer telephone, record, direct and deliver messages.

Clerical Support:

* Perform necessary computer skills as needed by principal (i.e. word processing, database, graphics, spreadsheets and data entry).

* Assist with class scheduling.

* Prepare and maintain records, if necessary.

Other:

* Participate in cross-training.

* Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory

Responsibilities: None Equipment Used: Computer and various office equipment. Working Conditions: Mental Demands:

* Maintain emotional control under stress.

* Work with frequent interruptions.

* This position requires regular in-person interaction with the public.

Physical Demands:

* Repetitive hand motions.

* Prolonged use of the computer.

* Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.

* Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
