Position Summary:

Responsible for managing all aspects of driver recruiting, driver onboarding, driver safety and compliance programs at the operating company (OpCo) level. Ensures driver staffing levels are managed and maintained to best serve business needs. Ensures drivers are in compliance with all DOT and OpCo regulations, and coordinates the tracking of all relevant information on drivers. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company.

Position Responsibilities:

* Responsible for driver recruiting activities in coordination with human resources to include recruitment advertising, applicant review/screening, phone screens, interviews, realistic job previews, job fairs, applicant sourcing (i.e. driving schools) and Affirmative Action outreach activities (i.e. military and females).

* Responsible for improving all key metrics including lost days from work, severity/frequency, Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) recordable incidents, accidents per million miles, safety audit scores, safety training and other related areas or measure.

* Ensures drivers fulfill duties safely through training and by monitoring vehicle safety, safe usage of ramps and handcarts, seat and weight belt use, and safe lifting and product-handling practices.

* Monitors safety programs and implement changes necessary to ensure the health and safety of our associates. Maintains 100% safety training completion rate for the entire Transportation Department.

* Ensures drivers are in compliance with all DOT and OpCo regulations.

* Responsible for developing, implementing and/or administering fleet safety and occupational health and safety programs to ensure applicable legal compliance. Creates and maintains a safe and secure working environment.

* Responsible for counseling of and documentation of all drivers in accordance with company policy for all driver related systems including DriveCam, Driver Alerts, Department of Transportation (DOT) logs, etc.

* Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

2-4 years Combination of DOT driver, transportation supervision and/or DOT safety/compliance work experience

Basic to intermediate computer skills to include MS Office Suite

and Outlook

Strong interpersonal skills to include interviewing, coaching and presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Associates/2-year technical: Operations management, logistics, business

management or related field

4-6 years combination of DOT driver, transportation supervision

and/or DOT safety/compliance work experience

Intermediate to advanced computer skills including experience with PeopleNet,

DriveCam, Vigillo/CSA systems

Foodservice distribution industry

experience.
